This is my entry to Macro Monday Dec 25th, 2017 with the theme "Member's choice - Bokeh". How fitting this theme is for the season!
I definitely learn a few things while taking this shot, one of them is the Christmas balls are like mirrors! I'm sorry I could not get the floor joists off the picture nor the light on Camera left. I try the shot in another room and I just ended up with two ceiling lights. Now I know why some professionals use satin color balls and not the highly reflective ones.

Member's choice theme "Musical Instrument"
"Oh this is easy!", I thought. "Just take a decent capture of your violin from an interesting angle, it's a snap", I thought. I ended up with almost 200 captures and a whopping folder size of 6,3 GB. Well.
I should know by now that whenever a theme seems to be an easy one, it isn't. Seriously, are MM themes ever easy ;-) ? So this is not my violin, but piano strings. When I opened the piano I saw those rather attractive, dusty spider silk threads hanging above the strings. I wonder what they would sound like. Maybe a very high, wispy sound...

The Fennel seeds are 4 to 10 mm long. They are very aromatic and commonly used in spice blends (five-spice powder, etc.) and teas (chai). Their licorice-like taste make fennel seeds sometimes confused with anise.
Here is a spoonful of flavor!

Had to go with what I had in my house. Colorful peppercorns in a wooden spoon. I love how the colors turned out on this, some of my favorite colors!

Macro Mondays: Into the wood
Yesterday i've taken some time to went up in the wood behind our garden. I went some meters and then i stopped to look around some minutes.
You need this time to see all details: little young trees, some speedy beetles, spiderwebs, rabbit pellets ;-) etc.
There are so many interesting small things you wouldn't see if you only walk through the wood. You have to stop, take a breath, take a breath again, be "ultra quiet" ;-) and look around you...

Macro Mondays Member's Choice theme ''Found In The Kitchen''
For this week Macro Mondays theme “Found in the Kitchen”, I decided to use two small cookie cutters. They both are 1.25 inches in width but overlap to make sure they still fit in the 3” guideline. I mostly use these cookie cutters to create different vegetable shapes for decoration when I do stir-fry. It works best with peppers or carrots. Everything tastes better when it looks good isn’t it? 😉

Measuring spoon handles. The spoons are part of a set including conventional teaspoon (5ml) and tablespoon (15ml) sizes, plus fractions of a teaspoon. I've never had to use any of the minuscule informal measurements in this range, but I am amused that someone attempted to standardize these rather vague units called for in recipes.
According to one source I've found, here are the equivalents to each unit:
Tad: 1/8 teaspoon (0.6ml)*
Dash: 1/8 to 1/16 teaspoon (0.6 to 0.3ml)
Pinch: 1/16 to 1/24 teaspoon (0.3 to 0.2 ml)
Smidgen: 1/32 to 1/48 teaspoon (less than 0.2 ml)
* My set includes a 1/8-tsp spoon, which means the Tad spoon in the set is probably closer to 1/10 teaspoon.
I'm sure the — excuse the pun — well-seasoned professional or hobbyist will take these measurements with, well, a grain of salt and adapt accordingly to achieve repeatable perfection.

For the MM challenge "Member's Choice - Bokeh" (December 25th 2017)
There's all kinds of bokeh, soft and smooth or sharp and bright, even 'stick-on' layers. The bokeh you get in-camera depends on the camera lens, some are round and some are geometric. My favourite is probably this Sony tele-macro 100mm lens. It does smooth and silky and can give some lovely round bokeh 'pops' at the same time. So I used a small espresso cup and saucer in white and gold. I wanted a bokeh as smooth as a good cup of espresso coffee, with additional sharp tangy bits too!
The section I shot fits easily into the 2x3" credit card size (photo in the first comment field)

June 19th, Member’s Choice: Drips, Drops and Splashes
My first contribution to Macro Mondays was July 3rd, 2017 so rather than re-visit a theme that I’d already attempted I decided to have a go at drips, drops and splashes. I’ve always been intrigued by some of the better images I’ve seen in this genre, very much along the lines of “how did they do that?” So, what you see here is a rank amateur’s first attempt.
