Double-sided file.

It's been a more challenging week this week so it was only at midday Monday that I actually read the Macro Mondays theme Texture after having more or less decided to give up any hope...

But hope comes best where least expected and here we are.

'Texture you can see with your eyes' so the challenge goes. Oh dear...

Herewith an image of a coarse metal file that was retrieved from the depths of a drawer in my garage (no, I meant the file...). The file is made of nondescript grey metal, presumably a steel of some kind. All nice and spiky and tactile for your delectation :)

The image is 2cm from left to right.

If you are wondering about the title the file reminded me of a prickly hedgehog for some reason. And I have always found in life that hedgehogs really, really need hugs... no, seriously, they do :)

Thank you very much for sparing the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image however briefly. HMM

[Daylight from above and behind with LED torch from below; tripod; delayed release; VR off and manual focus; white paper background. Processed in LR with raised contrast, clarity, vibrance; cooled colour temperature to add intrigue ;) and then boosted yellows and orange to bring out the spot colours; rotated to the diagonal for interest and a broad crop to steal more Flickr real estate (lol). Sharpened in Topaz Detail, then Topaz Clean to boost the edge detail further. Slight dark vignette, with attention given to shape and size.]

This is a detail of grandma's old scales.

She used it, my mom used it and now I've had it for years, and it is still the one I use.

No batteries needed 😁

This male spruce hen (grouse) allowed me to walk right up to him, as he was busy downing some seed from under the bird feeders. For the past two weeks he has also been busy chasing every female spruce hen around here. And they number somewhere around twenty or more. I suspect that the spruce hen family will be adding quite a few new member's this summer.

Lichen on an old Laurel Oak. "Member’s Choice: Into the Woods" theme this week! Not very good looking at all the other great shots ...

- The vuvuzela, also known as lepatata Mambu (its Tswana name) is a plastic horn, about 65 centimetres (2 ft) long, which produces a loud monotone note, typically around B♭ 3 (the B♭ below middle C). Many types of vuvuzela, made by several manufacturers, may produce various intensity and frequency outputs. The intensity of these outputs depends on the blowing technique and pressure exerted.

The vuvuzela is most used at football matches in South Africa, and it has become a symbol of South African football as the stadiums are filled with its sound.

The vuvuzelas made a comeback at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, and have been used mainly by Iranian supporters. Much like in 2010, there has been a backlash against the use of vuvuzelas.

In art music several compositions were made for the vuvuzela. One is a baroque-style double concerto in C major for vuvuzela, organ (or harpsichord) and string orchestra, written by Timo Kiiskinen, Professor of Church Music in Sibelius Academy, Helsinki.

These are the bridge pins of a piano. "The bridge plays a crucial role in the sound of the piano. It is the job of the bridge to connect the source of the sound (the strings) to the amplifier of the sound (the soundboard)." (excerpt from the link below) The pins hold the strings in place and spaced correctly.
