This picture is for the group Happy Caturday and this week the theme is "Member's Favorite Themes".
There are so many themes that have been my favorite that it's hard to pick just one.... so I'm going to combine a few.
Past Themes: Monochrome/Black and White, Songs, Eyes, Paws.

For this week’s Macro Mondays ‘Member's Choice - Bokeh ’ theme, I have chosen to photograph a Santa Claus Christmas tree decoration.
Nothing too complex with this one: dual light source - one for the subject and one for the background, with post processing in Photoshop and Lightroom CC as usual.
Happy Christmas to each of the group members who have commented and/or faved any of my picture submissions over the last year; it really means a great deal that you give your time to be so complimentary. HMM !!

Into the Woods I went, alas this wood was dense and dark, wet and muddy (my shoes and trousers too) and the most interesting things were on the ground (forcing me to do the same) ....
On top of all that my dog did run away, it took more than an hour before I found him again: he was waiting by my car ! ;-)
Back home I could delete nearly all photos as they were too busy, had no contrast, had a too small DoF, etc.
But I was happy to see some nice ones too ! These were taken in a glade -open space in the wood- where some fallen trees were covered with moss.
It's Autumn in Australia with frosty cold nights/mornings and beautiful sunny days. I caught the last of the sunshine down low in some nearby grassy bushland (we don't call them woods!) with fallen red Crepe Myrtle leaves amongst the blades of grass for Macro Mondays "Member's Choice: Into the Woods" theme. HMM!
This is a mechanically assisted corkscrew (turn the handle to push the screw into the cork, then pull down on the handles to pull the whole thing out of the bottle. For Macro Mondays theme "Member's Choice - Found In The Kitchen"

Little frog hanging out of a 2 1/2" diameter exhaust pipe. I used several editing techniques, last one being double exposure, trying to be "abstract" ... not my forte but I had fun with this frog!
This was taken Friday, although while editing, I realized this recently repaired camera had somehow had its date reset to 2015 (I guess when I bought it new) ... so trust me please, this was taken within the past week. I have hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of photos in dozens and dozens of albums which are all now dated 2015 ... aarrgghhh ignorance is not bliss.

theme: Member's Choice - Games or Game Pieces
For Macro Mondays theme "Member's Choice - Musical Instruments", this is the bridge on a solid body electric guitar. It is a through-body bridge, meaning that the strings go over the bridge and through a small hole, and are anchored on the bottom of the body. In this shot you can see three of them descending into the body. The metal blocks are used to fine tune the length of each string. This effects how the notes stay in tune along the entire length of the neck.
Dew drops on a bin liner (garbage sack) in a rubbish bin (trash can), that I saw last Tuesday morning while I was out.
I'm not sure about the photo, but it was all I managed for this week, so I'm giving it a whirl. At least it fits the theme!

For this week’s Macro Mondays ‘Member’s Choice: Into the Woods’ theme, I have chosen to photograph some Rough-stalked Feather-moss. This moss was prevalent in the local wood that I visited, covering lots of fallen branches and on many trees too.
The lighting for this shot is a combination of natural light (obviously being in the wood), with the addition of a reflector and a tiny amount of fill in flash from a Nikon SB200 (up and behind) to camera right. Post processing in Lightroom and Photoshop CC.
I placed damp kitchen paper inside a washed out coleslaw pot & sprinkled on a layer of Mustard seeds, ordinary ones from the kitchen cupboard nothing fancy. Exclude light & in a day or 2 these will sprout. Bring them into the light, keep well watered & In a week they will be 3" long greens shoots to cut & use as a garnish in salads - see this photo for the end product www.flickr.com/photos/juliek1967/33605434271/in/photolist...
