This photo was taken specifically for Naz’s The Items We Carry group. Although I tote a crapload of other items around in my manbag, these are the basic essentials that follow me wherever I go.

I found this advert in a online magazine somewhere. I don't know if its a genuine (mt) advert, but it certainly caught my attention! ;)
Over the past couple months I've been adorning my MacBook with geek pride as I managed to get them. They're all from various sources, I bought a few, some came with t-shirts, and some people sent me some.
Unless you see me every day... which, unless you're Ethan, you probably haven't noticed.
Regardless, it's also my second day of getting into the "flickr spirit" with a 365 day photo project.

I manned up and finally got a proper website setup. None of this free-hosted blog junk or MobileMe iDisk-hosted iWeb sites.
Nope.
williambrawley.com is now hosted on Media Temple with a (gs) Grid Service server setup. The site is powered by WordPress.

Aquí es donde está hospedado Microsiervos, en el Garland Building de Los Angeles (1200W de la Calle 7), afectacto por el incidente de ayer. A pesar de las infinitas medidas de seguridad de todo tipo, anti terremotos anti inundaciones anti caídas de luz. Si hasta tiene un helipuerto… Pfff. La empresa se llama Media Temple y son muy buenos pero ayer fallaron.
En ese mismo edificio tambíen están Dreamhost y otras empresas de hosting a las que les pasó exactamente lo mismo: horas y horas sin conexión. En el blog corporativo de Dreamhost cuentan cómo también tuvieron que abandonar el edificio por el parque verde que se ve a la derecha. Si te fijas en su foto se distinguen las mismas formas, papeleras, árboles, césped y el edificio del fondo – sobre todo lo miras en con las fotos de satélite de Google Earth.

If you run a forum you need CloudFlare! By reducing malicious visitors (web spammers, botnet zombies) and caching my site on its distributed servers, it decreased the CPU time that my forum consumed by over 50% as you can see by these two charts. The top chart is the "GPU" usage on my Media Temple account. A GPU is a measurement that derives from CPU time required by every single hit/request made to a (gs) Grid-Service - including web server activity, programs, scripts, etc. OLPC News Forum was consistently 50% of my overall usage and had me go over my allotment on occasion (continuously using +20% of a processor core per month). Now with CloudFlare you can see that usage drop at the same time CloudFlare took over.
