Smile on Saturday theme TEA-RIFIC
One of my little luxuries during lockdown has been the purchse of a Japanese Matcha tea set so that we can enjoy a cup of vegan matcha latte, Japanese style.
Stay safe and take care, happy Smile on Saturday!
My designs for the design a Momoko contest. I'm not submitting them though, I just enjoy sketching the dolls. :-P
First is "Sakura Cola". She is a tan Momoko with the Cool face sculpt. For the face, she has teal eyes, gold eye shadow with silver under the eye, a new thicker eyebrow screening in dark blonde and bright pink lips. She has curly ombre hair with blonde that goes into pink and dark pink underneath with a sakura barrette. Black "BOSS" crop top, white skinny jeans with a pink sakura print, navel piercing, light pink nails, pastel pink vinyl moto jacket with a dripping white "peach" momoko logo on the back, teal flannel shirt tied around the waist and espresso brown combat boots with berry wine strings. She also has a berry wine choker and comes with her own bottle of sakura cola!!
Next is "Matcha Latte", serving some slutty granny Oscar the Grouch realness! lol! She has the cool face too, with light Caucasian skin, peach rose lips with painted teeth, yellow amber eyes, light brown eye shadow and milky green hair in braided twin tails fashioned with white "cream" pom poms. Matcha green faux fur coat, emerald pearl necklace, off white sheer dress with lace details and pearl buttons, matcha green socks and nails and Mary Jane wedges with an applied white "cream" puff pom pom. Finishing the look is her own cup filled with....matcha latte!
Here is the template if anyone wants to make their own too. It was fun!!

These are my favourite cakes, aptly named Dreamcakes, at my favourite cake shop with my favourite drink.
Week 3.
Nestled beneath the soaring concrete legs of the Ponte 25 de Abril and beside LX Factory’s historic water towers, Matcha Garden offers a lush, leafy escape in the heart of Lisbon’s creative district. A rustic wooden archway adorned with a glowing neon sign invites visitors into a serene courtyard filled with tropical plants, hanging rattan chairs, and cozy tables tucked among the greenery. The hand-painted chalkboard at the entrance tempts with specialties like dashi pork buta ramen, blending Japanese comfort food with the café’s relaxed bohemian atmosphere. Popular with locals and travelers alike, it’s a hidden gem for unwinding after exploring LX Factory’s eclectic shops, art, and markets.
the recipe for these steamed rice cakes totally surprised me. they are made using the traditional method of fermenting cooked cold rice with wine yeast, include use of eno salt & takes 3 days to prepare!
Ingredients for starter dough:
240g cold, white rice
1 1/2 tbsps wine yeast (pounded)
1/2 tbsp caster sugar
Some water
Material & utensil needed:
8 small paper cups
8 koh moulds
Ingredient A:
(boiled together until sugar has dissolved, discard leaves, leave solution to cool)
140g caster sugar
400ml water
2 blades pandan leaves
Ingredient B:
300g rice flour
Ingredient C:
1/2 tbsp Eno fruit salt (plain)
Dash of red, yellow, green colouring
Method:
1. Combine white rice, wine yeast, sugar in a clean container. If mixture is too dry, drizzle in a little water. Cover and let it ferment for three days in a cool area.
2. Scale out 80 grams of no.(1) after the fermentation period. Set aside.
3. Pour cooled solution of ingredient (A) into ingredient (B) from a height. Stir-well and add into no.(2). Mix well, strain mixture into a big basin and cover. Leave it to ferment for twelve hours.
4. Mix no.(3) with Eno fruit salt. Divide mixture into three rice bowls. Colour each part with a colour given, leaving the remaining mixture in the basin a natural colour. Pour this natural coloured mixture into the base of small moulds lined with paper cups. Spoon each coloured mixture into paper cups. (You get colourful fatt koh)
5. Arrange in a steamer, steam over high heat for 15 minutes. Check with a skewer should. Once inserted, skewer should come out clean with no bits clinging. (If you are using big moulds the steaming time is different).
