I met Don Henninger in 1995 when he was Managing Editor of the Phoenix Gazette! He moved to the Arizona Republic and then, as if he could see the future, he made a move to become Publisher of the Phoenix Business Journal! They hosted this morning's inspirational Phoenix Business Journal Healthcare Heroes Awards before a packed ballroom at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel. Check the paper online to learn about all of the wonderful valley Heroes who were recognized this morning! Each of them had amazing stories of living by helping others.
Reg Ballantyne is with Vanguard Health Systems and is Past President of PMH. I owe him for a great friendship that began when I took a photo of lobbyist Ed Wren with a live camel out front at one of his famous holiday parties. They'd run out of film! And I usually kept 2 extra rolls with me. If you know me, you know Ed (mhrip) was my last minute movie buddy.
Bob Emmelkamp, aka Computer Bob, donates IT Consulting to valley-wide non-profits. He is Chairperson of the Cystic Fibrosis StairClimb & Firefighter Challenge on Sept 21, 2013. Today, he was one of only 3 Healthcare Heroes Community Outreach Finalists. Congratulations, Bob!
Tom Ambrose is the everywhere man. He was Executive Director of Phoenix Suns Charities forever (37 years). You still see him at nearly every charity event! He and Bob Emmelkamp were at Valley Leadership last night. Tom has written two books: "2 WACKO! Echoes from the Purple Palace" and "Notes from the WACKO! File and Tales from the Madhouse on McDowell" (our old stadium where the Arizona State Fair is). He is a speaker now!

Jan Lee Sproat is a dynamo. We've known each other since I purchased a ticket to the American Heart Association Heart Ball. I was told it was "the event not to miss." Then I learned single people only go to the posh Heart Ball with dates, so I wouldn't be finding anyone's true loves that night.

She now has Phoenix Rising Consulting and Board Developer and is again helping the Veteran's Medical Leadership Council with their wonderful 11th Annual Heroes Patriotic Luncheon on Nov 8, 2013. It comes around again every year. www.arizonavmlc.org
