This is my Vision Board for how I hope September 2020 will be...if we all mask up and are careful, maybe we can do a little more by then...while still remaining vigilant. There is all kinds of symbolism in here but I'll probably be the only one who understands it.
Today's word is Typhoid Mary, named after Mary Mallon (1869-1938), a cook in New York, who was a healthy carrier (contagious but showing no symptoms: asymptomatic) of typhoid. She died of pneumonia. Earliest documented use: 1909.
One Typhoid Mary is enough in the history of humankind. Don’t let yourself be the new Typhoid Mary. Wear your mask when out and about.

... by a long shot.
As with a lot of area's and jurisdictions, we're not "living with covid" but rather are getting sick over and over and over with Covid. As a result, staff shortages are being experienced in all sectors. ER's are shutting down. Yes, hospitals were struggling before the pandemic, but now things are worsening...not getting better. Businesses are struggling finding staff, more people are experiencing long covid (including myself) long after the initial infection... even when that infection was "mild".
I have NEVER had the common cold or FLU back-to-back multiple times, but yet so many folks still equate this to a mild cold/flu when all the health experts point to the opposite.
What does this mean going forward? Will we have access to medical care when needed? Will your local grocer, auto repair shop, gift shop, pharmacy, coffee shop be able to operate with enough staff to serve us?
At this stage... we're all going to be impacted, question is... how seriously? And how will I contribute to the mounting problems we're all facing?
Pretty pictures are great, but they don't solve the crisis at hand. I suspect we're all in for a rude awakening. We are not invincible. We've ruined this planet and seeing the results by way of climate change.
And now, we've chosen to do likewise with how we handle this pandemic.
What a sad commentary on the term "civilized society" that we try to apply to ourselves.
Just needed to get that off my chest. Artists have always, historically.... had a "social conscience".
It's not always about artwork, but rather, where we stand... now, in the midst of multiple calamities... Covid is but one that faces us. But if we fail in surviving THIS virus, how is it...that we'll be successful with the others?
As it stands, we've all been deemed dispensable by the dropping of protections for "essential indoor areas" at a minimum with less information from our respective health officials serving govt leaders.
Make a difference, wear a good quality mask not just for today, but to help minimize the harms to come....and make no mistake about it, they WILL come.
Long Covid is no joke.
I felt an asthma attack coming on, so I stepped into an aisle at the store that didn't have anyone near me and used my inhaler. Every time I do this, I get irritated at the anti-maskers who get all pissed off about having to wear a mask. One of the things they always say-scream at people is "I have a medical condition".
I say BULLSHIT. I have asthma. I'm claustrophobic. I'm so hard of hearing that reading lips assists me in my day-to-day functioning. AND I STILL WEAR A MASK. I want to know what "medical condition" those jackasses claim they have, because till I do, y'all are mask slackers. Rat-lickers (that was a term used in the pandemic in 1918).
