Friedrich Engels (1820 –1895) was a German philosopher, communist, social scientist, journalist and businessman.

Engels developed what is now known as Marxist theory together with Karl Marx and in 1845 he published The Condition of the Working Class in England, based on personal observations and research in English cities. In 1848, Engels co-authored The Communist Manifesto with Marx and also authored and co-authored many other works.

Friedrich Engels (* 28. November 1820 Wuppertal † 5. August 1895 in London) war ein deutscher Philosoph, Gesellschaftstheoretiker, Historiker, Journalist und kommunistischer Revolutionär. Darüber hinaus war er ein erfolgreicher Unternehmer in der Textilindustrie. Er entwickelte gemeinsam mit Karl Marx die heute als Marxismus bezeichnete Gesellschafts- und Wirtschaftstheorie.

Noch mal in ganzer Pracht...

Die alte FDJ-Kaderschmiede hat bessere Zeiten gesehen, als sich Blauhemden und "Internationalisten" aus aller Herren Länder hier tummelten und den Marxismus-Lenismus studierten. Der "Plenarsaal" fasste 500 Studenten und die zweitgrößten Simultan-Dolmetschanlage der DDR mit 18 Fremdsprachenkabinen - die Vorlesungen wurden auch in so exotische Sprachen wie Khmer und Amharisch übersetzt.

The main building of the former FDJ (East Germany's young communist League) college in Bogensee in the woods near Wandlitz, about an hour from Berlin.

The 168.000 square metre campus (that also includes Goebbel's country house from before 1945) was designed in the 1950s by architect Hermann Henselmann, in the same style that he chose (or was asked to follow) for Berlin's Karl Marx Allee (the former Stalin Allee avenue).

After a few futile attempts to use the property for training camps or a hotel, the campus is slowly being overgrown and reclaimed by nature. As the first roofs start leaking and there is no money to heat the rooms in winter, it will soon be too late to reclaim and save the buildings. However, the location would make for a grand retreat, hospital or private school - provided someone was willing to invest a lot of money...

It shows an enamelled metal tile mural by Willi Neubert entitled "Der Internationale Charakter der Offensive des Marxismus-Leninismus". It was created in 1977/78 and was originally mounted on an external wall of the Stadthalle der Freundschaft in Suhl (Thueringen). A rare colour photo of the mural in its original location is in Sludgegulper's comment below. Shortly after German reunification it was removed and placed in storage. In 2010 an agreement was reached between the authorities in Suhl and Thale (Harz) to install the mural next to the railway station in Thale, the home town of Willi Neubert, to honour him on his 90th birthday.

ThIs building was rebuilt in the 1990s as the Congress Zentrum Suhl, which now incorporates the Fahrzeug Museum Suhl (FMS) which contains examples of the vehicles, primarily 2 wheeler Simsons, made in Suhl.

Boven de toegangsdeuren lezen we; "Unter dem Banner des Marxismus-Leninismus zu neuen Erfolgen im Kampf um Frieden und Sozialismus!

Voor het lezen van de spreuk boven aan de gevel moesten de toeschouwers het hoofd opheffen: "Ruhm und Ehre der Arbeiterklasse der DDR und ihrer Marxistisch-Leninistischen Partei der SED!
