My deaf oddeye girl 💜 just found that wonderful picture of her I made almost 2 years ago... crazy and smart girl
3801 needed to take its own supplies of coal with it when it visited central Australia in 1992. It is seen being coaled at Marla on the Alice Springs line on 30th August 1992.

Resisting the urge to clammer down her hole, Marla stands insistently on top of her doorstep.
I had to back the car up for this shot. JoAnne, now a certified wildlife spotter, suddenly yells out "MARMOT" 300 feet passed the event. Ok so we need to work on her reflexes but I still managed to get the shot and not cause an accident.

I had press credentials at the 1997 Miss USA pageant, and was able to give Marla the paper doll I drew of her. She recently let me know it's framed & hanging in the hallway to her daughter's room!
