Auch wenn das Kaminfeuer nur auf nem LED-Schirm flimmerte: Die Atmosphaere in dieser Bar war schon richtig heimelig.
Text of Left Marker (Right Marke Missing):
Union General Curtis set up a defensive line on the west side of the Big Blue River from the Missouri River upstream for 15 miles to stop Confederate General Price advancing from the east. A Battalion of Kansas Militia arrived here before daylight and Jennison’s Brigade with 1000 cavalry and 5 howitzers with a skirmish line along the river. The militia felled trees to block the ford. Thompson’s CSA Brigade of 2000 men reached the river at 11 A.M. and was stopped. At 3 P.M. Gordon’s Regiment crossed the river 1 mile upstream. Slayback’s Battalion crossed downstream flanking Jennison. His skirmishers were driven back and Thompson crossed driving Jennison to the west. The ford was cleared and Price’s Army and wagon train crossed here.

1t is our finn belief that the campus student activities must remain tantouchcd from the nasty political interference b) the natit.H1al or regional political parties. Planting of stooge tudcnt bodie by variou political partie· must be stopped. JNU stu<.knt union election is a role model for other institutions in man} ways and the .
L: ngdoh Committee it ·elf praises the JNU model. The committee never tempered with the novelty of ideas of JNU election. It has suggested impro' ~"ment in the condu,- "r c1P.ction. The Ho '"ble Sup,...'!me Court has precisely directed further improvement in J I 1 election by guiding us how to improve our unique election model and ho\\ to keep us safe from corrupt and disruptive political onslaught from outside the campus. .
Youth For Equality shares the anxiety of the common students of JNU as the future of the academic year IS no'' uncenatn considering the disruptive missionary zeal of various student bodies bneked by the support of their parents political parties. There is a pressing need to end this uncertainty. The admimstration must ensure sound academic environment in our camrus. We don't want to prolong this calibrated uncertainty and as the court has fixed the responsibilit: of implementation of Lyngdoh Committee Recommendation to conduct JNU election on the JNU administration. there shal I not be any dilution or disregard of the court order on the part ofJNU admi:1istration. .
M,·ths and Realities about JNU election: .
~ No u e of monev ,power: This is the first myth only to be beiieved by the gulliblt JNU students and blind followers of communist ideology! Anybody who visit~ the campus and gets a chance to acclimatize himself or herself' asks--one question-where does the money come for the huge amount of pamphlet and posters every now and then! The fi,e thousand rupccs (Rs. 5000) expense fixed by the Lyngdoh recommendation per candidate in the t:!lection is graphically \ iolated in JNU every year even before the onset of Lyngdoh Recommendation. Pamphleteering. pestering. canvassing, catering the campaigners/candidates and printing and dis:ribution of manrfesto costs more than lakhs of rupees for each student body. It exceeds in the case of rich student bodies backed by political panies. .
r .
,., No u e of mu cle power: Ihis is the second myth, which the media mocks often about JNU. The last year's presidemial speech is stil l fresh in the mind of JNU students. There may not be a bct~er display of mass violence during election. No election 1s ever completed in JNU without few FIRs at Vasant Vihar Police Station, fe\'v written <'omplain at the ol'lice or Chief Proctnr few GSCASII complain and man) more. The deployment of heavy police force during counting of .JNUSU election in the recent pnst has not been fcrgotten by senior students ofJNU! .
~ No interference of outside clements: This is the most vivid lie communist student bodies are spreading in the campus. For nearly fifteen days before election all the political parties depute their election managers to assist their concerned student bodies inside JNlJ. Thi <\ often leads to the conf'ront<1tion of rival student groups inside the .
campus. .
~ No disturbance in studies: All the student bodies of the campus devise their yearl mg programme keeping in mind the forthcoming JNUSU election. They do not promote any common cffo11s or common programme but divisive efforts and programme to garner specif:c vote::, The University remains di v!ded for !he wr ole year. The elections campaigning, especially the late night ones, also leaves no room for undisturbed study. Needless to mention the archaic marathon counting for three days. for no reason, is another outdated gift JNU students needed to be rejected and we must adopt a new means of voting and counting. Why not electronic 'vOting machine in JNU election? Probably that may not suit the manipulative intension of leading parties or the campus. .
