The Marine Parkway–Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge is a vertical-lift bridge in New York City, New York, that crosses Rockaway Inlet. The bridge, which opened on July 3, 1937, connects the Rockaway Peninsula in Queens, with Flatbush Avenue to Floyd Bennett Field, Belt Parkway, and the Marine Park neighborhood in Brooklyn. The center span is 540 feet (160 m) long and is normally 55 feet (17 m) above the water but can be lifted to a height of 150 feet (46 m) above water level. With its distinctive twin towers (which house the vertical-lift machinery), the bridge has become an iconic landmark and symbol of the Rockaways.

I was lying on a rickety, wooden jetty, in a remote place, looking down into the sea, and watching the marine algae swaying around.
With all the smog and haze leaving the north west, i decided to pay west kirby visit, the marine lake was so calm and the sun was setting over my right shoulder, the calmness didn't last long though.
Here is the link to a story about the search for a location for the photo shoot and the nice and surprising encounter with the owner of a building company who turned out to be very helpful.

Hopkins Marine Station is the marine laboratory of Stanford University. It is located ninety miles south of the university's main campus, in Pacific Grove, California on the Monterey Peninsula, adjacent to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
Improvising after forgetting to check where the sun was rising. Tried a few super long exposures that didn't work so spent 15 minutes walking up and down the jetty with the 20 sec timer on, much to the amusement of the dog walkers and wild swimmers.

Every year from late April through winter, Giant Cuttlefish congregate in great numbers near Whyalla to breed.
One of my favourite buildings is the Port Authority building at Fremantle Harbour. The lines and colours are so pleasing. I used my personal film settings in the Fujifilm XT3 for this.
Vancouver, CANADÀ 2024
Beyond the glass towers, Vancouver is a city defined by the sea, and companies like Western Pacific Marine are essential to keeping the region moving across its waters.
Vital Connection: This company operates several ferry services throughout British Columbia (including inland lake and river ferries), serving as a crucial link for transportation and logistics in a region shaped by fjords and islands.
Industrial Landscape: Their presence in the Vancouver harbor adds a gritty, hardworking character to the city, providing a sharp contrast to the sleek skyscrapers and luxury of Downtown.
The Fleet: Their vessels are built to navigate challenging waters and carry everything from daily commuters to heavy vehicles, ensuring that British Columbia’s rugged geography doesn't isolate its coastal communities.
A Different Perspective: Capturing their boats or docking areas provides a glimpse into the functional, maritime soul of Vancouver, far from the polished tourist districts.
