Such a sweet baby. Lovely youngster so worried his herd will leave him or his hoomans won't share a snack. Cookies are his favorite. Mum gets them from the feed store. Poor name is extra infantile his mom was old when she had him. He doesn’t want her out of his sight as it causes him anxiety 😥
My friend Mama. She passed away two summers ago but I think of her so often.
A huge thank you to all who stopped by to look or comment.
This was four of Mama's kids back in the summer of 2019. For several years she brought her babies around in the early evenings and they cleaned up the leftover birdseed and apples. Mama passed away last summer which left a huge hole in our heart.

I had to pop up to the school today to submit the kids completed work, so I carried the camera to get some shots of the Tawnies. Mama was on a branch over the footpath today so I was able to get a better look at her.
MaMa deer was giving her babe a bath and a hug when we pulled up to the Visitor Center to get our trail map and have a snack under the shade tree. MaMa deer hung around the whole time while we were sitting on the picnic bench. She was really enjoying that shady place!

Bears are such amazing animals. Mama bear seems interested in me, which I am thrilled about, and a bit intimidated. She even tried to sneak back up on me in the wood line but quickly shied away when I turned and looked at her. They each have their own unique personalities. This was such an amazing experience and brings even more respect and appreciation for God’s magnificent creation.

A mama grizzly bear with cub glaring at me from out of the bushes during a pretty heavy downpour of rain. She had another cub nearby as well. Taken in Kananaskis Country Alberta, ironically at Grizzly Creek.
"You talking to me?! I know you're not talking to me?!".
A beautiful mama Osprey giving me that protective glare that mama's of all species seem to have perfected.
For those of you who know the film, this is the church featured in Mama Mia! for the wedding scene at the end. It is actually the church of Agios Ioannis Kastri and is beautifully perched on top of a huge natural outcrop of rock in the Mediterranean Sea.
This is the mother of the 5 young cheetahs at our zoo. She sat on a rock and watched over the young ones while they were sleeping.
In the comments I add a photo of one of the sleeping "babies".

Mama Kestrel must have worked up an appetite while defending the Highway paddock so went looking for a snack. A pair of Black Kites appear to be nesting in a tree in the middle of the paddock and Mama doesn't seem too happy about that.

Thats nature for you!
California quail were first introduced to NZ in 1862 in South Auckland. They spread in most parts of NZ despite a low survival rate in chicks. This year I had a family move into my garden, but unfortunately several on the chicks appear to have not survived. The family now consists of only one remaining chick. They forge in my courtyard and the papa always stands guard on the fence and warns them of any danger. They have become familiar with my presence that I will bring them no harm.
