These are refrigerator magnets that were on the refrigerator at the time. I am taking the photo against the refrigerator door looking from the bottom up in negative mode.

On Wednesday, May 30 a carnival-themed Magnet Redesignation Education Party was held at Children's Hospital Los Angeles to educate staff in a fun way about Magnet Recognition.

Recreated the Yin Lotus. This time the middle opened up to create a nicer space.

A large selection of quadrupole magnets are seen lined up in a orderly fashion inside a storage building owned by Jefferson Lab in Newport News, Va., on Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024. (Aileen Devlin | Jefferson Lab)

These magnets came from Argonne National Laboratory, which shipped the 30-year-old Advanced Photon Source (APS) magnets to Brookhaven and Jefferson Lab, where they will be re-purposed for use as part of the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC), a state-of-the-art particle collider being led by those other two labs and that will be built at Brookhaven.

The magnets in these large red blocks are for focusing the particle beam after it's turned around the bend by the magnets in the large blue blocks (not pictured). The blue blocks also can either accelerate or decelerate the particle beam.

Now then... how does one clamp the other half of the thigh? Magnets! Powerful magnets. One on the inside paired with one on the outside. The strong magnets are plenty powerful enough to hold it.

Be careful. You can pinch yourself badly!

Renee made this heart but didn't like it. Gobs of glitter fixed it right up.

The tricycle, not completed but assembled for a photograph. The handlebars and front wheel belong to a motorcycle, and the rear wheels, suspension, and engine to a Volkswagen Bug. The upholstery is also handmade, but not by Roger, as he has no training in upholstering. When he heard that a friend was teaching an upholstery class at a local prison, he presented the inmates with the challenge of upholstering his tricycle. They jumped at the opportunity, glad for an escape from the monotony of sofas and car seats.

The photograph is clipped to Roger's tool box at Whitney's Tool Shed, which is covered with stickers, magnets, and other paraphernalia from Roger's former employers (as well as expressions of his values).
