Looking close on Friday theme Magnets. This little Magnetic tire gauge hangs on my refrigerator. The name on it is Slime. I'm not sure what it's advertising. I looked it up. It's a tube sealant.
Revisited - while shooting the neighbouring Jin Mao Tower I noted that the ceiling came so low that the SWFC's top created a wake in the clouds. A previous night shot of this sculpture and the SWFC was done in a rather hazy night, creating completely different cloud/sky/light effects.
The actual English name of this tall sculpture by Liu Jianhua is "Global Magnet" and the Chinese name is just one word: "磁" (cí ="Magnet") - it stands 17.5 m tall in front of the SWFC.
A location revisited multiple times...

Two small, neodymium magnets (1 cm diameter) attached to a washer (2.3 cm diameter), suspended by a string. The two magnets each have two finishing nails stuck to them. The string was spun and the photo was taken as it unwound.
Lit by an LED flashlight on camera left and by a Nikon SB-26 through a snoot (to avoid illuminating the background) at 1/32 power on camera right.
Minolta MC Rokkor-QF Macro 50mm f/3.5 lens at f/8.
Our Children splashed out this Christmas to get a night out to Abba Voyage in London for my wife and me (as well as both of them) - my wife bought this magnet as a memento
I now have fridge magnets of all ten of my very favorite Beatles albums: Hard Day's Night, Beatles '65, Help, Rubber Soul, Yesterday and Today, Revolver, Sgt. Pepper, Magical Mystery Tour, The White Album, and Abbey Road.
Different configurations of collected steel sculptural forms. Two being magnetic allowing for reconfiguration at the whim of the owner/curator. The diameter of the round base is about 200mm.

Dagens tema föll sig naturligt att använda sig av en helt vanlig magnet. Det var första gången någon kommit och frågat i verkstaden efter järnfilspån på mitt jobb:)

Law of attraction
If like attracts like, I’m a real weirdo.
I have unpleasant interactions at the grocery store on the regular, but today was something special. I felt like a weirdo magnet, to include an employee following me around the store with a dry mop and making intense eye contact. If I wasn’t such a cheapskate, I think I’d start having my groceries delivered to avoid people.
Overall dress, Dickies. Top, Forever 21 (thrifted). Sandals, Birkenstock (thrifted and gifted). Earrings, Crafty Storz. Necklace, swap.
PS Wobbles here is your magnet, silly me I forgot to put it in the envelope so had to post it separately....Old age is catching up with me

people always get very excited about the backlit pictures of tessellations. and in fact it often makes me feel like I should defend the opaque views because the seem to get sold short a bit.
but in this case I think that the backlit pictures of let's space it are really spectacular O.O :-))
I stopped at this small lake on my way to work to catch the sunrise and take some backlit tess pics. there is no filter upon these pictures, just some hdr processing.
I love how the sunrise turns the actually white sandwich paper into yellorange.
I think it's also funny how very dark the magnets are which hold the model in place in this kind of photo setup that I used.
The Mr. and I wanted to start collecting something from the places we visit together, but didn't want a bunch of snow globes or Christmas tree ornaments, so we decided on magnets. But not the cheesy ones. As if collecting magnets wasn't cheesy enough, come on. We're an old couple trapped in the bodies of twenty-somethings, really.
The RogueOlympics theme this week was “Reaction”.
I thought about doing a variety of things but wasn’t feeling very excited about any, until something with magnets crossed my mind. This is a very simple kinetic sculpture with a magnetic pendulum ‘reacting’ to a rotating magnet controlled via gear.
Parts count is 95 this week, if you consider each magnet to be two elements (holder and magnet itself).
