this is more silvery than grey-- am gonna try for another one later, also. hmm, a lot of promises

A little bit of candlelight sets the mood .... and suddenly, dinner is forgotten . . . (in a whisper: it's for MacroMonday's Lit by Candlelight)

Photo taken for MacroMonday's weekly theme. This week's theme is "Embarrased"

This was taken to remind me of my child that was born long ago in the days of 35mm film.

I brought my trusty 35mm film camera to the hospital when my pregnant wife said, "It's time!"

I shot many photos that evening after my son was born. When the counter on the camera went above 36, I thought I was about done. So I started to rewind it only to find that I never had film IN the camera. Ha ha ha ha ha.

Taken for MacroMonday's weekly theme. Square.

I set up a grouping of squares in a square. Illuminated from the back and side, I am having a hard time choosing just one or two...

MacroMonday's theme is Summer Olympics.

Bokeh Rings and a running shoe is what I had in my head all day. Finally got time to shoot it at 11:45pm.

Happy MacroMondays everyone.

Go my favorite sports team! Woo hoo!

I know, it is a silly title...

Ahh, MacroMonday's pool. Each week we follow a different theme to look for and capture images relating to it.

This weeks theme has been "from the fridge."

My first thought was, "moldy cheese" and other icky things but i then thought that the fridge was meant to keep things fresh and delicious.

Here are a few of my thoughts captured to display this theme.

Fresh, iceberg lettuce.

strobist: sb800 on right edge about two feet away to show texture. fired in commander mode.

Larger? Okay

Often I am frustrated witih my workplace and the state of education in California, but I am still proud to be a teacher.

For macromonday's theme for April 12: pride.

macromonday's theme is: closed........ i like my other one better

(see the first comment box)

ODC humor

Ahh, here we are again at MacroMonday's suggested theme of the week..

The blackbery phone. Like mose cel phones it has a lock for the keypad so you don't accidently dial Aunt Pearl at the wrong time.

This week's theme is 'Security." Each week we post up to five images in the MacroMonday flickr group showing our interpretation of the theme.

This week I 'shot' a lot more than five so it has been kind of hard to edit my choices down to five.

Inspired by MacroMonday's Body part theme and one of my fave South Park episodes....

8/26/2025….

This is a now 14 year old shot….

…. the daily shoot was a very cool way to get started with macro and other things.. I learned new skills with each topic/challenge.

captain, have ye not noticed the sea monster that follows our rafts on the striped sea?

aye, matey, but we've been in stickier situations than this, since the mutiny, and will be again; and i'll wager my rum ration on that.

#ds433 Make a photo that features stripes of some sort today.

ourdailytopic: sticky

meta-theme: rubber duckies for a week to meet the ODC topic (or DS assignment)

Toy-in-the-frame Thursday

revived for macromonday's topic of obstacle (a sea monster is an obstacle-- right?)

taken for MacroMonday's "on fire" theme. You might be surprised (or not) to know that Barbie is remarkably fire-retardant. It was very difficult to set her aflame. by the way: not a good idea to burn plastic in an enclosed space (like a bathroom). the fumes nearly knocked me out. I feel all woozy.

I had to make a visit to the ER a while back for chest pains.

These were put all over my body. They didn't tell me they would hurt when I took them off along with some of my chest hair. Not comfortable.

Photo taken for MacroMonday's group where each week we post up to five images showing our depiction of the weekly theme. This week's theme is "Comforting." You thought I'd be showing a bowl of ice cream or something didn't you?

Turns out (or hopefully they diagnosed it correctly) that it is stress, not a heart attack. For those of you that know me well, I say things in my life are fine but you know I'm a liar when I say that.

Don't think you can fool your body.

for MacroMonday's TV show theme. The Bates Motel is a new TV show based on the movie Psycho.

For MacroMonday's Pictionary theme. This was a little more hit ya over the head than I wanted. But I gotta admit, this theme really gave me a challenge. For the better part of the week I've been thinking through various phrases and concepts and how to achieve that in a macro photo. The ideas kept coming, the execution was problematic. So, here we are.

And well the last bit is a cop out. Thank you Scrabble pieces.

Photo taken for MacroMonday's theme "In the Dark."

My take on it this week came up pretty easy but I needed time to shoot it. So I did my duty tonight.

This was lit only by candlelight. Three candles here.

In my kitchen I had the ceiling light bulb go out so I took off the cover and there were two bulbs in there. One was in there for a while because it was a size I have not heard of. 50 watt. Not 25 or 60, but 50. It was made by GE and this house was built in 1947. I have one other bulb still working in my basement shaped a little different than any others and that is a 50 watt also. I'd say that is very old. Well, anything older than me is very old.

They don't make them like the used to. Like Me.

Happy MacroMonday people.

Ahh, here we are again at MacroMonday's suggested theme of the week..

This week's theme is 'Security." Each week we post up to five images in the MacroMonday flickr group showing our interpretation of the theme.

This week I 'shot' a lot more than five so it has been kind of hard to edit my choices down to five. I took four different macros of my 9mm and only want to use one so I guess this is my second choice.

Something that I like to do it dehydrate fresh fruit and keep it for future enjoyment. I take a quart of fresh strawberries and slice them and overnight I have preserved fruit to enjoy at my leisure.

It lasts a year or longer for me ( if I save some.) I keep it in an airtight container and it can be refrigerated.

Do You Want to See Bigger Berries?

Yes, I use a food dehydrator. This one is heated and it takes about 8 hours to dehydrate 1/8 inch thick slices of strawberries.

mmmm

This is a photo uploaded for MacroMonday's challenge for representing "sticky"...

This was my attempt at being different... the blue are four sticky note pads... and the other, well it is a stick E...

Well it's certainly been the right week for playing with water - it's rained everyday! Two woman walking their dogs came across me crouched in a small stream, in the rain, photographing the water. "It's for a photography project" I said as they hurried away ;o)

Water from the stream pouring over a rock, for MacroMonday's "Water Play" :o)

macromonday's theme is macro abstract. this is a possibility.

For MacroMonday's from the fridge theme.

Ah, I couldn't pass on the title :)

For MacroMonday's theme of "Moolah".

I know there will be a zillion photos of coins in the group today, but I didn't have a stack of bills to shoot :)

The outskirts of Brachsylvania have had strange sightings of zombie candy corn recently. People have been missing from town. Be careful if you are traveling at night.

Movie still taken for MacroMonday's weekly theme 'spooky.'

The edge of this glue bottle is probably a trademarked item. This design sure made it easy to find on my shelf. I needed glue and knew I had to look for the orange top.

I think this is suitable for MacroMonday's weekly theme also. This week's theme is EDGE.

Life.

Growth.

Mold.

Culture.

Photo taken for MacroMonday's where each week we post up to five images (on Monday's) that follow a theme. This week's theme is "Growth."

It does not smell... no smell at all. Now those diced tomatoes in that pother container are another problem though.

This week's theme for MacroMonday's is '90 degrees' Here's my macro interpretation on the theme.

Have a good week!

macromonday's theme of 9

i wonder if there is any other 5 letter word in english

that contains 4 different vowels??

MacroMonday's theme this week is 'leaves.'

Other than house plants, we don't have many leaves sticking around in Michigan on trees except for crunchy brown ones on oak trees.

For this week's MacroMonday's challenge.

"Textiles and Fibers"

Our "Federal Reserve" banknotes for US currency have small blue and red fibers in them to make counterfeiting more difficult. As though our money is worth anything?

Each week we post up to five photos related to a theme to keep our creativity flowing.

Struggled a bit with this week's MacroMonday's theme of "Fresh." Plus, it did not help we were traveling this weekend, so opportunities to work on the theme were slim. I hope you enjoy what I did come up with...

Wondered if anyone would take this approach, as this type of fresh can be painful... (no, I NEVER had this problem... but knew some guys who deserved it). So processed this a bit once I took it, desaturating everything in the shot but the red handprint on my face...

macromonday's theme this week is TV shows ~grin~

have to admit i haven't watched an episode all the way thru but a dear one thinks it is hysterical :):)

scavchal21 nose to nose (yes, i know they are beaks ~grin~)

HMM!

Ahh, MacroMonday's.

I had my youngest son Quentin help me with these cannoli deserts. I made the filling up the night before ( it makes it more savory if made a day ahead and we allow the flavors to merge.) He did the shaved chocolate to sprinkle on them and also he used a filler tube to help fill the shells with the filling.

These are mini cannoli shells by Alessi company. About $5.00 for a dozen Sicilian style shells. I can make the shells but found it easier this time to buy pre-formed shells.

for Macromonday's theme "fast".

Of course, turtles usually are slow .. but MY turtle, Fransiska, was so fast that I rather could catch her! (btw ... Fransiska is an argil turtle :) )

Made in Australia. Mountain bike rims that are very hard to pancake.

This is on a bike I picked up for my son Tony.

Photo taken for MacroMonday's pool where each week we are faced with a new challenge to capture and post up to five images on a theme. This week's theme was 'wheels'

Next week's theme is 'CRIME"

For Macromonday's theme "Rainbow".

Struggled a bit with this week's MacroMonday's theme of "Fresh." Plus, it did not help we were traveling this weekend, so opportunities to work on the theme were slim. I hope you enjoy what I did come up with...

Fresh as in fresh grapes. My sweetheart with the only "fresh" misted fruit we could find... Mouth-watering fresh I guess you could say...
