For Macromonday's theme : office

and 365+ days in colour

7/30 April yellow

[http://www.flickr.com/photos/mm38] The donkey is there because of a very early advertising campaign from the 1920s and they even used a real donkey in the pictres. "Everybody uses Karlsson's glue except I, because I am a donkey (=an ass= an idiot)"

Photo taken for MacroMonday's weekly theme. This week's theme is "It's a Jungle Out There."

I had a few days to hang out in the woods of Northern Michigan.

This is moss growing on a rotting tree trunk in oak and pine forests.

Happy MM, choose carefully the paths that are offered to you.

For our weekly MacroMonday's challenge. This week is "Chilly Willy"

This is a kiddie pool with ice, leaves and reflections.

Tournament preparation.

Billiard Chalk.

Six cubes.

Photo taken for MacroMonday's weekly theme. This week's suggestion is "six."

Taken for Macromonday's weekly theme "monochromatic".

This is the green in my watercolour palette. When I paint green I usually use three different kinds of green instead of one shade. Since I love painting flowers green is always accompanying them.

Happy Macromonday!

for MacroMonday's theme: ugliness

obnoxious.... but warm :)

for macromonday's theme "ugliness - a personal viewpoint"

what came to my mind first when I read this week's theme was the story "the ugly duckling" which I just loved as a little girl. and later on in life I read it to my children and they loved it equally. so this is my take for this macromonday - our ugly duckling having spent winter in our garden pond because nobody thought about taking it out in time. it survived.

macromonday's theme is vegetable-- so here you go- chopped kale

with garlic and onion (and a bit of ice crystals)

100 possibilities project-- i have been remiss in adding to my scrabble tiles one (21/100)

One curly brown hair on my hair brush.

No, these aren't match sticks. :c )

Photo taken for MacroMonday's theme of the week. This week is is simply "Brush."

It's all about the shadow and you aren't going to see any 'shadows' unless there is light.

Taken for MacroMonday's. It was getting past sunset on Monday so I couldn't use the sun to do this so I set my flash on the green table a few inches away.

strobist: SB800 on table a few inches from the fork. TTL mode with pocketwizards.

MM redux, originally taken for MacroMonday's "Rolling Stones" Theme

For this week's MacroMonday's challenge where we follow a theme and post our photos only on Mondays. This week's theme is "Festive Treats" No insects, flowers, etc unless it is that week's assignment. Got it? Get it straight!

These cookies by Vortman Cookie Company of Grand Rapids, Mi are actually named. Guess what? Festive.

Now eat cookies and milk or leave them for Santa!

Sorry Santa, I used a thrift store "Crown Royal" whiskey glass for milk...

Strobist: SB800 to left with reflector on right for fill. Fired in commander mode. Shot in Manual to get a slow shutter speed to let some ambient light in. Used a tripod to keep it sharp.

Saint Patrick's Day shamrock blossom.

I was having difficulties coming up with something for MacroMonday's theme "generosity." I decided to use this image that I shot this afternoon to represent my sister Marianne's generosity. She just returned from a trip to Ireland with her daughter Annie and brought back wonderful souvenirs as well as many pictures and stories to share with the rest of us who don't have the opportunities to travel. She is so generous in many ways, but this Shamrock blossom is dedicated to her.

Cliches: Flowers, Holidays, Groups, Photo Effects, Nature :D

HMM Everyone!

HCS

macromonday's theme is holiday bokeh-- so this is a little faux tea light with our tree behind it, in very dark lighting conditions which gives it that grainy, painting by point by point effect. maybe i will try smoothing that out at some future time.

and i love that the topics make me stretch and try things i might not have. love the tips about cutting a shape into a piece of paper-- will have to try that when the frantic pace of the season slows down a tad :)

hmmm, another photoshoplift-ed pic ~grin~ i am having fun doing this-- maybe i should create a group???

* macromonday's theme of halloween

* ANSH scavenger22 "something that is wildly colorful"

(swapping out the neon skeleton)

and i did set up a group-- here in north america/new england we're headed into a cold autumn and then an even colder winter so photographing things in stores might be an option ~grin~

it's here........

For MacroMonday's theme: embarrassing

Ok this is kind of a stretch as far as being a macro... but I was just taking some random photos of Tangie and when I saw it while reviewing I just knew I had to submit it for this week's theme. It's actually rotated clockwise. She was laying on her side and rubbing her eyes.

Wood chip fresh out of my workshop. From the planer.

for MacroMonday's theme "crisp"

If you look close the branches spell " EAT"

Taken for MacroMonday's weekly theme. Square.

I set up a grouping of squares in a square. Illuminated from the back and side, I am having a hard time choosing just one or two...

Project365 • Jul 6, 2009: Almost any girl can appreciate the feeling of untying the satin bow wrapped around that signature blue box! This bow necklace was my anniversary gift inside!

This photo is also for MacroMonday's theme for this week, What you wanna be when you grow up. I think everyone wants to be loved and to be happy when they grow up!

This photo is for macromonday's theme of this week "embarrassing" and here is the story behind it:

Long time ago I was on a first date with a very nice young man. We went to the theatre to see a play. Sometime during the play he kindly offered to get us something to drink. I thought that was very considerate of him and to be polite I mentioned that the "Apfelschorle" (which is apple juice mixed with mineral water in Germany) tasted really nice. Can you imagine how embarrassed I was when he informed me that I had been drinking Champagne? Even now I blush to a dark crimson when thinking about it. The only thing I can say in my defense is that it was served in plastic cups. Do I need to mention that he was not the man who married me?

If your expenses are consistently more than your winnings, you probably shouldn't gamble.

I just have a hard time throwing away these tickets. It says right on them, "Keep This Coupon"

Photo taken for MacroMonday's weekly theme. This week's theme is "Sideways, Upside-down, or Backwards."

macromonday's topic periodic elements....... detail of a copper trivet

this may be a little far out (distance-wise) to count in MM. let me know if i should substitute one

The 17th and 18th century still-life artists painting flower bouquets are awe-inspiring ..... Here's my attempt to copy their work in a MacroMonday's STILL-LIFE: A SMALL GROUPING challenge. I picked the tiniest flowers in my garden and used the top of a perfume bottle for my vase.

for macromonday's spooky theme

ooooh, you may never eat asparagus again. it is amazing how many things in the vegetable and fruit aisle look scary close up!!!

For MacroMonday's theme: embarrassing

Story 1: When I was in college, I drove a '73 Duster that I inherited from my grandparents. I loved it. It was a real tank! One Friday after classes, I loaded the car up with some weekend stuff to go home for a couple days and visit the folks. It was about a 2 hour drive. Not bad. Just far enough I could easily go home when I wanted to, but far enough they couldn't just drop in on me on a whim :). So I tried to start the car and it wasn't making a sound, not even a tick. I kept trying and trying. This was in the 80's before cell phones. I went inside and called my Daddy. He said, see if some guys in the parking lot can help you, it might just be a dead battery. So I found some random guys and they ruled out the battery, but couldn't get it started either. I was bummed. I unloaded my stuff, went back to my dorm room, and called Daddy to ask him if he'd make the trip on Saturday to help me. He wasn't thrilled, but agreed. So Saturday came, Daddy arrived to the rescue, hopped in the car, wiggled the gear shift a bit, turned the key, and it started right up! That's when I learned that a car won't start unless it's all the way in 'park'.

Story 2: One time at work I had forgotten something in the car that I needed, so I decided I'd go out to the parking garage and get it during my lunch break. When lunch time came though, I realized I didn't have my keys in my purse. I must have locked them in the car that morning. Feeling dumb I called my husband to get him to leave work and come unlock my car for me. When he got there I met him in the parking garage and we went to my car together to find that not only had I locked my keys in, but they were still in the ignition and it had been running for 4 hours! Luckily I had a full tank of gas.

By the way, this red tint to this photo was unintentional. I was trying to hold a piece of tissue paper over the flash to soften the blow a bit when it slipped on this one take, my hand went in front of the flash, and resulted in the red shot. Ever done that? It's freaky!

ANSH challenge round-- 4 different patterns from the list

macromondays's theme of stripes...... since i was traveling, i didn't have time to do a macro

so i dug out something from my 'recent' archives

for MacroMonday's theme: childhood memories

I have great memories of putting together puzzles with my mom in front of the TV after school and in the evenings. We almost always had one going. It was always a race to see who could be the one to put the last piece in. I was such a cheat I used to hide a piece so there'd always be one left over for me to finish it. Shameful!

Photo taken for MacroMonday's weekly theme.

Wisdom.

Don't drink and drive.

Don't be stupid and endanger yourself and others lives and property..

If you do drink, please drink responsibly.

There's my public service announcement for the week.

Have a great week fellow MacroMonday mavens.

Photos combined for MacroMonday's flickr group weekly challenge. This weeks challenge for photos taken with macro lenses (or as close as you can get) is NUMBERS.

Do you realize how many numbers are in this world? I think they are ALL man-made.

Set 02

01 - Small hand-held postage scale from 0 to four ounces (metric on the back)

02 - Video Camera control for camera number 2

03 - From my office phone

04 - Pinnacle Titanium Golf Ball

05 - YMCA Master Lock

06 - Six cent US postage Air Mail Stamp

07 - Very Old Wooden Toy Block

08 - Eight cent US Postage Stamp

09 - Nine of Clubs form a deck of playng cards.

10 - 10mm Socket on a Craftsman Ratchet. Nice and dirty.

11 - A Whopping "11 percent More" sticker on some dish detergent

12 - US measure of 12 inches.

Trying to come up with something orginal, I thought of this, but suddenly it was Sunday evening and I'd not taken a single shot! The light was fading, but I still had problems with reflections and glare on the shiney new screen of my new phone, it's not very good, but I wondered if anyone knew why the lines and colours appear along the line of focus?

For MacroMonday's theme "Ring" - HMM!

n.b. In the UK some of us "older" folks still say "ring" as opposed to "call".......occasionally ;o)

The British Government launched a new decimal currency across the country and the chosen date was 15.February.1971

The familiar pound (£), shilling (s) and pence (d) coins would be phased out over the next 18 months in favour of a system dividing the pound into units of ten, including half, one, two, five, ten and 50 pence denominations.

Banks were closed for the past two working days to prepare for the implementation of the new currency on what has become known as D Day.

Taken for MacroMonday's Theme : 1970s

I had set this goal for myself that I would not take pics of toys for this weeks MacroMonday's theme. What does it say about an individual that fails to meet the goals they set for themselves?

Anyway.. they're colorful and I like 'em so there!

For our weekly MacroMonday's challenge. This week is "Chilly Willy"

Two ounces of espresso frozen in a 2 oz espresso shot glass. Try not to drip this on your shirt. It might stain.

Created for MacroMonday's Weekly Theme Project. Monday, May 7: "Water Play"

Today was a rainy day here in Colorado . . . perfect for this week's MacroMonday theme of "water play"! Poppies are in bloom every where lately. Found this little poppy along the side of the street in the Highlands Neighborhood. I love how this delicate poppy seems burdened by the weight of the heavy raindrops.

mirrors are pure deception. I remember those mirror cabinets on fairgrounds that I used to visit as a child. I still like them but haven't been in one for years. this is a very small foldable mirror I use for painting and a thumb tack. took me all day to come up with this. hope you like it for macromonday's theme of the week "deception.

I am the Juice King.

I give 100 percent when making orange juice.

Photo illustration for MacroMonday's pool. Each week we post one or two images showing our depiction of the weekly theme. This week's theme is 'Emotional."

Happy Macro Monday.

Happy memories in yellow.

Back to front: A money bank that was my dad's with a chip near the eye from it dropping one time, a coffee mug from an antique mall, and a smile face pendant from the 1960's that's a little beat up but I retouched it a bit.

Make me smile is MacroMonday's theme this week.

The pullback view in my comments is not a macro.

Happy Macro Monday folks.

taken for MacroMonday's "on fire" theme. You might be surprised (or not) to know that Barbie is remarkably fire-retardant. It was very difficult to set her aflame.

Not really iced tea.

It was lukewarm but it can't melt acrylic ice. Couldn't find a mint leaf to complete it.

Thanks to Brian Gudas (BMG5) for the ice cube props.

Macro Monday's - "On the Road"

I have been traveling quite a bit lately for my new job so initially I though that I would be somewhere and this would be easy however I happened to be home this week so ended up struggling on what to photograph for this theme. As luck, or in this case bad luck, would have it I got a flat tire today. I picked up what looks like a piece of sheet metal "on the road" and as soon as I saw it I knew I was going to photograph it and post it for todays theme. So I am taking the theme literally and posting what I picked up "on the road" today.

taken for macromonday's weekly theme "in the dark". happy macromonday everybody.

for macromonday's theme "white background".......

am not sure that all parts are white enough (lower parts just wouldn't cooperate); but i was working with available light in a thrift shop ~grin~ (but, of course :)
