The machine hall is an object of outstanding quality in several respects: the steel framework building, erected in 1902/1903 according to the designs of the Berlin architect Möhring, represents the beginning of modern industrial architecture. Stylistically, it describes the transition from historicism and art nouveau to modernism. The preserved historical machinery - especially the electrical winding machine - is unique in Germany. The hall is famous above all for its Art Nouveau portal with its colored glazing. There is no other such portal in an industrial building in Europe.

Stilistisch bezeichnet sie den Übergang von Historismus und Jugendstil zur Moderne. Der erhaltene historische Maschinenbestand – insbesondere die elektrische Fördermaschine – ist einzigartig in Deutschland. Berühmt ist die Halle vor allem wegen ihres Jugendstil-Portals mit seiner farbigen Verglasung. Ein solches Portal gibt es kein zweites Mal in einem Industriebau in Europa.
