This is the Singer 500A, which was a fancy machine in its day - the Singer company itself considered it "the greatest sewing machine ever built." Singer enthusiasts have nick-named it "The Rocketeer" because of its retro-futuristic styling. It can do lots of decorative stitches and can take a double needle for attractive top stitching. It's the machine my mother had when I was growing up. According to the serial number, this one was made in 1961.

This drawing machine was designed and built by Ben Hopson, a product designer and kinetic sculptor based in NYC. The tool is an essential part of the story in the music video and was built with custom measurements to fit Isaac's arm.

Vending machine culture is a very special culture in Japan. Everywhere you go, you'll sure see one on the street. There're many kind of machine available, from toy to tobacco, beer, to soft drink. Even some of the ramen shop need you to buy food ticket from the machine. One special thing about the softdrink machine is they have hot drink, this is very helpful especially the weather is cold during the winter.

This is my entry for the Modified Machines LUGNuts build challenge. Its a 68' Pontiac GTO dragracer. This model is called "The Great One". Its not my overinflated opinion on the build, but rather...that is what they called the '68 GTO. They also called it a Goat...but...um...The Great One just sounds better. My ladyfriend Sue asked me to build her dream car and this is what she wanted. She has good taste in cars, eh?

Although the guns are not in the view, the drag straps show us these men are in a machine gun unit.

The machine

Once upon a time an old shepherd lived on the slopes of a volcano.

After one of the regular eruptions of the volcano , the shepherd found a huge stone box that appeared to have been ejected by the volcano. It had strange inscriptions on their faces and found a small hole on a side, but can´t see anything inside. But a strange noises could be heard inside.

Time passed and the pastor almost forgot that the strange object was still there by force of habit .

One day a strange traveler passed through grazing land and asked the pastor if he could stay at his house that night . The old shepherd took him in and fed him what little he had as he told stories , including the mysterious stone box.

The next morning the traveler was gone but he had left a small bottle with a clear liquid inside. The pastor does not know what it was nor what could serve for, tasted it and looked like salt water.

Two strange things in so little time made think very carefully the shepherd while driving his flock of sheep and suddenly it occurred to him that both cases could be connected and thought he could introduce the liquid into the hole in the box.

When the herd was saved went in search of the solution to the mystery and pour the liquid into the small sump sounds great stone began to escalate suddenly opened above a lid , Pastor climbed to look within looked pipes, tubes , glass bottles with unusual shapes , but had to come off quickly as a kind of inverted horn began to rise . When this mouth pointed to heaven the pastor began to capture metallic sounds , wind , strings tightening , and suddenly ordered and it seemed as if they played each other in the air coming out of the box. The pastor had never heard anything so wonderful as much the bleating of a lamb , but never an instrument to make music .

The sound seemed to wrap around and escape into space. The pastor began to mourn , but not understand why , since he was not sad. When the tears came to his mouth he realized that the liquid had left the traveler in a small bottle were tears of emotion and joy, so he put the bottle under her cheeks and refilled while allowing transport by melody .

The Greatest Tree in New Zealand

The kauri tree, Agathis australis, is New Zealand’s largest and most famous native tree. Located midway between Auckland and the Bay of Islands in the warm north of the country, The Kauri Museum tells some of the stories of this amazing tree.

Far more than a museum of timber, the Museum has stories of the Māori of the north eastern Kaipara, of European pioneers, of foresters and sawmillers, gum diggers and farmers, and of business people, fishers and the families who have made this area their home.

My mother recently passed way at the age of 97 and me and my brothers have started cleaning out the house she and my dad lived in since 1949. Dad passed away 20 years ago. In cleaning out drawers I found a small container of these small screws. They're about 3/8 of an inch long and there must have been 150 in the small container. Dad built clocks after he retired and he must have used these to build his clocks. I took one look at them and felt like they'd made a good macro photo subject.

I have found out a little about this machine- it's a Roneo 750 rotaryduplicator, that that uses a stencil through which ink is pressed.

It was used to make multiple copies of office documents, leaflets or brochures before the advent of the photocopier.
