Poem about Mac the Cat (inspired by me, written by ChatGPT)

Mac the cat, so ginger and old,

Sits atop the fence, quiet and bold.

In Munich town, his home and place,

He watches the world with gentle grace.

Though he cannot meow anymore,

His spirit shines, like never before.

For Mac is calm and friendly too,

And always happy to see me and you.

With each pat and stroke of his fur,

We feel his warmth, so soft and pure.

And though he cannot speak a word,

His eyes and purrs make us assured.

Assured that in this world so fast,

There's still some peace that's meant to last.

And Mac the cat, with his friendly ways,

Shows us the joy in simpler days.

So here's to Mac, the old ginger cat,

May his days be long and full of that

Warmth and love he brings each day,

To brighten up our human way.

I feel almost compelled to take about 100 pictures of "Big Mac", the Mackinac Bridge, every time I go "Up North". The 5 mile long bridge is an engineering marvel. The roadbed at midpoint is about 200 feet (61 m) above the water, and the water at that point is 295 feet (90m) deep. When it was completed in 1957, it was the world's longest suspension bridge.

The bridge connects the Upper and Lower Peninsulas of Michigan. Previous to it's construction, ferry boats were used to cross the Straits of Mackinac.

Note: Mackinac Bridge and Mackinaw City, although spelled differently are both pronounced "Mack-in-aw".

I know, I know

I know, I know

I know, I know

The back of your hand (back of your hand)

My bottom lip (bottom lip)

Down my throat (dig in)

This is it (take hold)

Grab a hold (never let go)

When you need me most (get what I want)

The deeper you go

The dark, the dark, the darker it gets

Togetherness

Togetherness

Ta-tattered and frayed,

knotted and twisted Pressing and looking for a way

That's the rub, denim on denim

This is no pragmatic love

The back of your hand (back of your hand)

My bottom lip (bottom lip)

Down my throat (dig in)

This is it (take hold)

Grab a hold

When you need me most

The deeper you go

The dark, the dark, the darker it gets

Togetherness

Take hold, never let go

I get what I want, I get, I get what I want

Take hold, never let go

I get what I want, I get, I get what I want

An open mouth, wet teeth that rub and bite

Always razor sharp

Engineered for cruelty and charm

Engineered for cruelty and charm Togetherness

Take hold, never let go

I get what I want (the deeper you go)

I get, I get what I want (the darker it gets, deep)

Take hold, never let go

I get what I want (the deeper you go)

I get, I get what I want (the darker it gets)

The Cranbrries - Linger

(Mm-mm, mm-mm, mm-mm, mm, mm)

(Mm, hm-mm)

If you, if you could return

Don't let it burn, don't let it fade

I'm sure, I'm not being rude

But it's just your attitude

It's tearing me apart

Is ruining everything

I swore, I swore I would be true

And honey, so did you

So why were you holding her hand?

Is that the way we stand?

Were you lying all the time?

Was it just a game to you?

But I'm in so deep

You know I'm such a fool for you

You got me wrapped around your finger

Do you have to let it linger?

Do you have to, do you have to, do you have to let it linger?

Oh, I thought the world of you

I thought nothing could go wrong

But I was wrong, I was wrong

If you, if you could get by

Trying not to lie

Things wouldn't be so confused

And I wouldn't feel so used

But you always really knew

I just wanna be with you

And I'm in so deep

You know I'm such a fool for you

You got me wrapped around your finger

Do you have to let it linger?

Do you have to, do you have to, do you have to let it linger?

And I'm in so deep

You know I'm such a fool for you

You got me wrapped around your finger?

Do you have to let it linger?

Do you have to, do you have to, do you have to let it linger?

You know I'm such a fool for you

You got me wrapped around your finger

Do you have to let it linger?

Do you have to, do you have to, do you have to let it linger?

The temperature was already a balmy 87 degrees when I started my short walk into Bushey Point at Leesylvania State Park early on a summer morning. The air, as it has been all of the month of July, was already thick and heavy by the time the early morning northbound parade began on the RF&P. I135, stacks from Suffolk to Chicago, almost always has the power from I136 when it gets spun. Knowing this train would have 2 MACs, and a fresh leader, it was a nice easy decision on what train to chase this day. The bridge over Powell's creek is easily the best vantage point for good power on morning northbounds, and despite having shot many trains here through the years, still my favorite spot to sip coffee and watch em roll by. Being as busy as the RF&P is, it's tough getting everything north in the VRE rush hour windows. Somehow, BD manages to make it happen, and 135 rolled through at track speed with a hot train en route to Cumberland from Acca Yard for their crew change.

Green Day - Waiting

www.youtube.com/watch?v=xc1Uld0k4W4

I've been waiting a long time

For this moment to come, I'm

Destined for anything at all

Downtown, lights will be shining

On me, like in a diamond

Ring out under the midnight hour

Well, no one can touch me now, well

And I can't turn my back, it's

Too late, ready or not at all

Well, I'm so much closer than

I have ever known

Wake up!

Dawning of a new era calling

Don't let it catch you falling

Ready or not at all

Oh, so close enough to taste it

Almost, I can embrace this

Feeling on the tip of my tongue

Well, I'm so much closer than

I have ever known

Wake up!

Better thank your lucky stars

Say, hey, hey

Well, I'm so much closer than

I have ever known

Wake up!

You better thank your lucky stars

Say, hey, hey!

I've been waiting a lifetime

For this moment to come, I'm

Destined for anything at all

Dumbstruck, color me stupid

Good luck, you're gonna need it

Where I'm going, if I get there at all

Wake up!

And better thank your lucky stars

Did you know that macaws have a highly flexible tongue supported by a bone, allowing them to use it almost like a hand?

In what was a very odd move, a pair of BNSF SD70MACs, still in BN "Executive" colors, lead loaded CSX coal train N910 down into the Thornapple River valley. This train of Powder River coal, which was destined for Consumer's JH Campbell plant in West Olive, would normally run up the Grand Rapids sub to Holland and continue north to West Olive. The details are fuzzy to me now, but I believe the train was re-routed "the long way" via Toledo and Plymouth because of a derailment on the NS near Porter, IN where the GR sub connects to the NS Chicago district. I want to say this was the only time I ever saw this happen. Also, I absolutely loved those cream and green MACs with the classic BNSF logo on the nose!
