Students from 23 states display their rockets and talk about what they did to make them fly at the NASA Student Launch Rocket Fair on Friday, April 6. Over 800 students traveled to Huntsville, Alabama, to participate in a week of activities as part of NASA Student Launch.
High school and university students competed in the 2018 Human Exploration Rover Challenge event at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. Students came from across the U.S. as well as several foreign countries such as Brazil, Germany, India, and Mexico. This event, which is normally a 2 day event, was shortened to 1 day in 2018 due to adverse weather conditions.

The rockets and their payloads are designed to fly to 1-mile in altitude before deploying recovery systems that brings them safely to the ground.

Big Spring Park in downtown Huntsville was filled June 16 with over 9,000 visitors eager to learn about NASA’s past, present and future as Marshall celebrated the agency’s 60th anniversary at this year’s NASA in the Park event. The event, the fifth annual celebration of NASA and the community, featured fun for all ages, live music performed by Marshall team members and a special appearance by former NASA astronaut Robert "Hoot" Gibson.
