After eight months of designing, building and testing, the middle school, high school and college and university teams launched their rockets as part of NASA Student Launch on Saturday, April 6. The rockets and their payloads are designed to fly to between 4,000 and 5,500 feet in altitude before deploying recovery systems that brings them safely to the ground.

The 11th Annual Wernher von Braun Memorial Symposium, hosted by the American Astronautical Society, in conjunction with The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) and NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center, kicked off Oct. 24 and will continue through Oct. 25. The event is held at UAH for two days and features speakers and panelists from government, industry and academia. NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine, Marshall Center Director Jody Singer and Apollo 17 retired astronaut Harrison "Jack" Schmitt were among the speakers at the event.

A Moon 2 Mars NASA social tour was held simultaneously with the 2019 budget rollout at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL. The social tour brought 13 social media-savvy individuals together on March 11 to share a behind the scenes tour of the facility. Attendees viewed the liquid hydrogen tank test article for NASA’s deep space rocket, the Space Launch System. The group also toured concepts for deep space habitats and landers. The final tour stop was the additive manufacturing lab.
