Snowflakes around seedheads of an ornamental grass (silver grass) of the Miscanthus genus (probably the hybrid of M. sinensis and M. sacchariflorus known as Miscanthus × giganteus) of the Poaceae (Gramineae), or grass family, growing in Oshkosh, Wisconsin
The specimen also may be M. sinensis.
The plant also is called "winter miscanthus" due to the persistence of its bright seedheads through winter.
Originating in East Asia, M. sinensis is widely naturalized and considered invasive in parts of its naturalized range including the eastern U.S.

Late one afternoon at the beginning of autumn. The clouds were low in the sky with the wind from the sea...
I talk to the wind
My words are all carried away
I talk to the wind
The wind does not hear
The wind cannot hear

I thought they complimented each other very well.
Ahhh, the colors of autumn...
Back from my travels, so I will try to catch up on commenting :)
The Nougugawa (農具川) river may look like a canal but it is a natural river that rises in Lake Aoki, flows through Lake Nakatsuna and Lake Kizaki, and finally joins the Takasegawa river. It is important as a source of canals that feed the rice paddies in Oomachi and Ikeda.

Thank you for your visits, comments or awards. They are very much appreciated!
This is another Miscanthus seed head; the genus grows widely in our back field. I tried to emphasize the white spikes here, without totally losing the yellows and oranges. I also like the form here, less complex but perhaps for that reason more compelling to my eye. This is the result of a 15 image focus stack, so it should reward efforts to view it as large as your screen allows.
