The interesting thing is that this tractor has no accelerator pedal but a hand operated lever.
English translation:
This locomotive was built in 1943 for the Deutsche Reichsbahn by a company that operated under the simple abbreviation "MBA". Behind it was Orenstein & Koppel AG in Babelsberg. This well-known enterprise was “aryanized” (i.e. forcibly expropriated) in 1940. In this context, the name was changed to “Mechanical Engineering and Railway Supplies AG MBA, formerly Orenstein & Koppel”. In order to finally erase the Jewish name Orenstein, from 1941 only the three letters MBA remained.
The locomotive 50 3075, which was called 053 075-8 on the Deutsche Bundesbahn from 1968, was a "transitional war locomotive", which means that its design was subsequently simplified in many respects in order to save materials and working time during production under the given wartime conditions. Also the engine is equipped with a so-called tub tender, which was standard on the wartime locomotives of the 52 and 42 series. The tub tender does not have a classic frame, but is solely stabilized by the self-supporting tub construction.

This AEC Swift (known to LT as the Merlin) was donated to the Feltham Community Association for use as a shop in 1981, where it stood for about ten years. This picture was taken in April 1983.
Amazingly, it got saved for restoration and is now at the Wythall Transport Museum.
