Possibly the most underrated Nikon available very cheaply today is the N90s. It's loaded with features, is more capable in some ways than even the F4, and is smaller and lighter than the F5. In the 90s and early 2000s, many of them were primary (and backup) bodies to pros the world over. It's not "pretty" by classic camera standards, but if you're worried more about the image you make than the image you portray, it's one of the best bangs for your buck.

I bought this one (and the MB-10 grip) used in the summer of 2000 and it's served me well since.

EUS102/5X were a pair of MCW Metrobus DR102/26 / Alexander RH Type H78F new to Strathclyde PTE in February 1982 and are seen with successor Strathclyde Buses in Glasgow's Renfield Street.

The 15 Alexander bodied Metrobuses were generally better screwed together than the MCW bodied ones, but had extremely tight cabs. This batch too had 4 speed Voiths, and some of these were real gems, MB10 in particular. Again, slow diffs found their way into a few.

MB19 is seen at the leafy (but don't let that fool you...) North Pollok, Lyoncross Rd terminus on the 91, on a route introduced that year to replace the 9, which became the 9A to Pollok Centre only and didn't serve North Pollok.

My Nikon D700... having a rest on a garden seat.

Alas, it's getting a bit long in the tooth. When compared to the latest range of DSLR whippersnappers, this is a heavy camera with a relatively small sensor.

Has the D700's time passed? Are its days numbered as the main occupant of my camera bag?

No, not unless I win the lottery!

Shot taken with a Fujifilm X100.

This wan't yesterday - summer 1995 to be precise. I'd done three years piloting the big tango-coloured 'deckers around Glasgow and that was enough, much as I love my home city. So I thought I better get a snap of myself. Long before the days of 'selfies'; another driver took the snap; it's a bt blurry but serves the purpose. The High Possil terminus of busy service 48 (Liddesdale Sq) wasn't really the place to be jumping around with a camera, but it was worth the risk.

As for the bus, it's an Alexander bodied Metrobus, and this particular one was, for some unaccountable reason, such is the way of these things, an absolute peach of a bus. These ones had 4 speed Voith gearboxes so on the open-road (not that there was much of that, but sometimes we ran light on the M8 to Paisley etc), could do over 60mph.

It was a baptism of fire starting my bus career here, but the experience gained has served me well.

Route 203, The Square, (Tallaght) to Carriglea (Killakee Road), Dublin Bus, (Donnybrook Garage), MCW (Metro Cammell Weymann), Metrorider, MB10, (88-D-31372), was photographed at The Square Shopping Centre, Tallaght on 26 January 1991, while operating the 30 minute frequency, flat fare, Monday to Saturday, 'Localink' branded route 203 to Carriglea.

A total of 15 brand new Cummins engined MBs were built for Dublin Bus by MCW and were registered over three years, 1987 - 1989. The first batch of 5 were short wheel base (SWB) examples, MB 1, (87-D-22541), to MB 5, (87-D-28223). In 1988/1989 a further 10 examples were delivered but were on a longer wheel base (LWB), MB 6 (88-D-31237) to MB 11, (88-D-31371), MB 12, (89-D-12) to MB 15, (89-D-15), all were delivered in the green/cream 'Nipper'/'Localink' livery as above.

The MB class were the first brand new buses delivered to Dublin Bus which was formed in 1987 following the breakup of C.I.E. into three subsidiaries, Bus Atha Cliath (Dublin Bus), Bus Eireann (Irish Bus), Iarnrod Eireann (Irish Rail).

The MCW Metrorider minibuses, (MB1 - MB11) were delivered new to Dublin Bus in 1987/88 had non matching fleet/registration numbers but this was corrected for the 1989 deliveries, MB12 - MB15. The registration number matching its fleet number was a practice that started in CIE way back in the 1965 with the introduction of the C Class single decker, Leyland Leopard, C1 - C270 (EZH 1 - NZL 270).

All MBs were withdrawn from Dublin Bus service by summer 1994, following withdrawal, MB 8, (88-D-31236) transferred to Bus Eireann, (Galway) where it received the Bus Eireann, red stripes city services livery.

Robert Clark advised that "MB1-7/9-15 were sold in 1994 to Strathclyde Buses.
