One the corniest songs I know ... dedicated to the man who thinks it's ridiculous. That's just the way I roll.

Now I know that happiness goes on

That's where you found me

When you put your arms around me

I haven't been there for the longest time

So Max as for "someone" to do his profile picture. Apparently, he wanted to show off how pretty he looks. So, that someone turned out to be me!

* Juvenil Charrán Real, Royal Tern (Thalasseus maximus)

The royal tern (Thalasseus maximus) is a seabird in the tern family Sternidae.

The royal tern lives on the coast and is only found near salt water. They tend to feed near the shore, close to the beach or in backwater bays. The royal tern's conservation status is listed as least concern.

The royal tern belongs to the class Aves and the order Charadriiformes. Charadriiformes are mainly seabirds of small to medium-large size. The royal tern is also in the family Sternidae because of its white plumage, black cap on its head, long bill, webbed feet, and bodies that are more streamlined than those of gulls.

Kakabeak (Clianthus) is rare and endangered in the wild but they are grown in gardens. The flowers resemble the beak of the kaka, a New Zealand parrot. These are the first flowers our garden plant has produced. I have published one photo in the bud stage before. They are now opening up. I shot this on a rainy day, ideal conditions for flower photography.

Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park, Florida.

Born in the wild in February 2019, young Maximus was abandoned by his mother for unknown reasons. The juvenile Florida black bear weighed a mere 4 pounds when he was rescued by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

Despite the best efforts of caregivers, FWC deemed the young bear non-releasable because he had imprinted on humans. Fortunately, there was space available for a resident bear at Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park. Florida’s only wildlife state park works in cooperation with FWC to rehabilitate orphaned black bears and release them back into the wild and has facilities to house several non-releasable bears.

Welcome back all to another woodland image and let me introduce you to a wonderful character (tree) I stumbled upon by chance on my last trip. The light rays as I mentioned on my last image were providing the theme for the morning and were just there not to be ignored. Coming upon the small beech tree patch which I had scouted before I knew of this magnificent Red Beech. The strong protruding branch reaching out to the sky in an almost defensive style reminded me of the short stubby sword used by Maximus in the wonderful film Gladiator. The beech was kind of standing there on its own surrounded by smaller beech trees, almost forming a small amphitheater of their own trying to hide in the shade.

The contrasting light was again the challenge, but it was there for the taking as the colors of the leaves were glowing in full glory. I would have preferred a softer light, but I am sure Autumn and Maximus will produce that hopefully in the next few weeks.

Here a capture at sunrise of the famous Maximus house from the Ridley Scott movie: Gladiator. Thank you for watching my Flickr friends.
