Maui's diverse landscapes are the result of a unique combination of geology, topography, and climate. Each volcanic cone in the chain of the Hawaiian Islands is built of dark, iron-rich/quartz-poor rocks, which poured out of thousands of vents as highly fluid lava, over a period of millions of years.
This was taken from a condo block in the area of Kehei on Maui in Hawaii, USA. The sun rose from behind the mountains inland, giving a delicate, pink glow to the sea, sky and neighbouring island in front.

I am not a fish lover so I can't tell you the names of these fish - only that they are incredible. The photos were taken at the Maui Ocean Center - an aquarium on Maui featuring the fish in local waters. You can see more at susanreep.com.
