This was in glorious colour and ready to upload today because it is one of my favourite places and we look forward to coming here in eight days time with a bit of luck and a following wind (ever present almost here actually ) I waited to watch the latest on Ukraine before uploading though... I never seem to get good Butterfly shots. I shot off maybe thirty of these and even went to get my macro camera. There were a few workable out of the A99.

One of my personal favorites is the grand dame from Cuba, Ms. Gloria Estefan. She is the favorite singer of my aunt, who herself was born in Ecuador and moved to my country at a young age. She introduced me to her songs in spanish, before that I only knew her english songs. There's just something about that woman that inspires me, her warmth, her down to earth image, her amazing love story.. and her lyrics. So.. wonderful. And this song of hers helps me often when I feel down and blue. She also released an english version called 'Wrapped', but I like the spanish much more. It oozes romance somehow

There are many things I love about music. From interesting and complex compositions, beautiful harmonies or simply lyrics that moves you, to name a few. This song is one of my favorites. I heard so many interpretations of what this song is about over the years, and I like that. The best lyrics are often ambiguous and mean something different for different people. For me this song is about lovers who stand by each other against all odds, against the negativity of the world and people who just disprove of them. Isn't that a lesson we all need to learn: don't care what other people think of you and concentrate on the few ones that really matter in your life?

I was talking with tatu the other day about how I love that you hear a new song and like it. Then, many years later, you hear the same song again and not only does it invoke memories, but you maybe even see the lyrics and the melodies in a new light. This song falls under that category. When it came out, I was 19. Full of energy and the whole world was at my feet, ready to be discovered. And as all young people do, I rushed into that world and soaked up everything I saw and experienced without really have an appreciation for it. Now, a quarter century later, the song is still beautiful and amazing, but I have a new appreciation for it from all the life experience I gathered on the way. Not saying that I did it wrong back then, it is just how life goes. And I would have hated to admit that back then, but there is a certain wisdom that comes with age 😊
