Found this old wasted diner on the back roads of Utah - thought with a name like Luna it needed a moon!

Gibbous moon
I like to photograph the moon up to a couple of days before the full moon phase.
This is the only way to perceive the mountainous reliefs, the lunar craters and its nuanced sphericity. Last night I photographed it at 100% with maximum lighting, but too much light flattened it making it more like a huge medal rather than a beautiful sphere traveling in space.

Luna has a mind that goes from 0 to 120 in mere seconds. She needs space for her brain, body and spirit. She's not the kind of dog most would want around. She's complicated. I love her.

I was surprised and delighted to find this Luna Moth on my deck today. I haven’t seen one in about 15 years
The Luna Moth is a wild silk moth found only in North America, including Canada. It is a very large moth with a wingspan of 3 to 4.5” (80 to 115 mm). It is a nocturnal species and not often seen in the daytime. It prefers forested areas of walnut, hickory, sweet gum and Birch trees.
It’s natural enemies are owls and bats. These moths are becoming more and more scarce.
Luna Moth is a composite image. Some of the images in this composite were licensed from Shutterstock. Others are mine.
The butterfly project is a tribute to Eric Carl, who wrote and illustrated 'The Hungry Caterpillar' and many other books.
TIP: Most creative projects in Photoshop use a feature called Layers. The most lucid book on the subject is by Matt Kloskowski. 'Layers' The complete guide to Photoshop's most powerful feature' published by Peachpit Press.
