this morning it was 9*f (-12c) and now 20*f (-6c)... I don't know how these little birds survive the cold... but at least they have plenty to eat since I ran outside and filled their feeders!! Brrrrrrrr.....

How amazing is it that we are wired to respond emotionally to beauty. I think it's a miraculous side effect of fear.

Spectacular Sunday Sunset & Dramatic Dusk Display (New York Home Marina) - IMRAN™

Yes, the sunsets I’m blessed to experience at my blessed West-facing home on Tampa Bay, Florida are among the best in the world. But, despite the less direct “on-the-water” angles from my South-facing home of 27-years on the Great South Bay, there can be many spectacular ones to see in New York too.

Tonight’s is an example. I captured from the boardwalk while walking Kennedy & K2, after walking them on the beach here.

I recall my late beloved father and I taking in these scenes during his 2-months stay with me at this time of year in 1996. My mother never got to visit this home.

She and I would often see Manhattan sunsets after a walk to the Hudson River banks from my off-campus Columbia Univerity apartment in the summer of 1989. My Dad was in the USA too but away attending some higher education civil engineering courses in Salt Lake City, Utah then.

Flag Day Celebrated

June 14, 1777

On June 14, 1777, John Adams spoke about the flag at a meeting of the Continental Congress in Philadelphia. He said, "Resolved, that the flag of the thirteen United States shall be thirteen stripes, alternate red and white; that the Union be thirteen stars, white on a blue field, representing a new constellation." There have been twenty-seven official versions of the flag so far; stars have been added to it as states have entered the Union. The current version dates to July 4, 1960, when Hawaii became the 50th state.

Thank you Carrie for reminding me, of course I am never short of Flags:-)
