I apologise for the re-post, but I thought I would share the news that this image has been deemed one of the top UK shots uploaded to Flickr this year. Thank you to all of my friends for your support

Also congratulations to a few of my Flickr contacts who also made the list, both Worldwide and UK based...

I know for sure there are more stunning images than mine of Britain and many from most of my flickr contacts, but I'm not going to shy away from sharing a moment.

Amazing storm clouds at Melbourne, Derbyshire at sunset this evening, within minutes I was being hailed and sleeted on and then within another 5 minutes it was clear again...awesome weather

After missing out on a beautiful sunrise in the morning I was determined to make up for it by capturing a decent sunset if one was going to be on the cards.

Leaving work at 5pm meant my options were limited, so I bombed along to Melbourne and my favourite trees, thankfully the sunset delivered enough to satisfy me before going home

I have wanted to photograph this tree for years, the only thing holding me back was the amount of distracting background to it, well on Saturday my wishes were answered with a fab bank of fog blocking out any distractions other the the rising sun.

Sometimes patience does pay off.

Taken in that superb sunset evening at Melbourne....The moon was in its Perigee and it looked huge just over the horizon, I did a few closer up but I did like the look of this one too..

One of my most beloved old trees which makes me think that it will exist in the same way after Corona than before ...

It has been a long time since I could add another three to my collection. This is one. Finally.

The Salton Sea affords some of the greatest sunsets imaginable. I couldn't resist this lone tree at the Red Hill Marina.

The lonesome tree at Melbourne under a fabulous sunset sky.

Just love this fragile looking lone tree on the shore of Derwent water, especially as it looks over the stunning fells on the opposite bank of the lake, resplendent in autumnal tones

A dull, grey day on the Quantock Hills in Somerset (SW England). I love the line of the hills and the way the line is reflected in the tree. I can't decide which of the two versions I like best: b&w or this colour version.

Thank you all for taking a look at my images, much appreciated!

The delightful curving tree at Kelly Hall Tarn with a nicely developing dawn sky as a beautiful backdrop.

Luckily there was barely a ripple when we arrived so reflections were certainly the order of the day

Morning light at Serón

[This is a series of photos that I took while backpacking Torres del Paine. I tried to take as many photos as possible, but it rained so much more than I had ever anticipated, so it was not possible. Itt was extremely windy, so a combination of both rain and wind made it difficult to shoot while actually hiking.]

I didn’t know if these were any good. I just took as many shots as I could before the light faded.

Little did I know that more rain was in store for the next several days, and for the remainder of the trip I managed to take only half of what I took that day.

So, I am glad that I took this shot and that I was able to turn this into part of the mini series - Morning light at Serón.

If there's one place in my life that I always find solace it would have to be Melbourne. We had a number of Wedding pictures taken there and its also somewhere I have sought when the news as not been so good. I really don't know why it speaks to me so much but I always feel an inner calm when I arrive. The calm can be broken a little when a stonking sunset sky comes along though.

This morning we expect Ophelia to make herself known in Ireland. I hope my favourite tree is strong enough to survive her impact.

After a run of frustrating days of terrible weather over Easter I was willing to give any resemblance of a decent sunset a try and last evening the sky did show a little promise, so I popped up to the lone tree at Stanton by dale just in case, obviously as soon as I got there the sky turned grey... so I waited around for a sign of something better and all of a sudden a streak of red blazed across the sky.... thats all I needed, Wellingtons were pulled on on the off chance the field may be muddy....after 4 days of rain it was beyond muddy, I must have been sight running in welly boots through inches of boot sucking mud to find a spot to capture....

Good job I ran, the sky went from amazing to dull grey in less than 5 minutes, but at least I captured something of it.
