LA ESCALERA DE LOEWE

El número 8 de la Gran Vía madrileña fue el lugar escogido por su fundador, Enrique Loewe Roessberg, para abrir la tienda insignia de una de las industrias del lujo más conocidas de España, allá por los años 30.

Historia y tradición se unen en este espacio. Comienza ya desde las impresionantes escaleras que bajan hacia la exposición. .Algunos de los personajes más conocidos que pasaron por esta tienda fueron: Ava Gardner, Deborah Kerr, Charlton Heston, Cary Grant, James Stewart, Margot Fonteyn y Maria Callas.

La Galería Loewe, además de exponer los bolsos y piezas que han creado un espacio lleno de historia, cuenta con un espacio dedicado al artesano que está detrás de cada una de sus creaciones.

 

THE STAIR

The number 8 of Madrid's Gran Vía was the place chosen by its founder, Enrique Loewe Roessberg, to open the flagship store of one of the best-known luxury industries in Spain, back in the 1930s.

History and tradition come together in this space. It starts already from the impressive stairs that go down to the exhibition. .Some of the best-known characters that passed through this store were: Ava Gardner, Deborah Kerr, Charlton Heston, Cary Grant, James Stewart, Margot Fonteyn and Maria Callas.

The Loewe Gallery, in addition to exhibiting the bags and pieces that have created a space full of history, has a space dedicated to the artisan behind each of his creations.

 

La fascinante historia de una escalera

En 1934 Enrique Loewe Knappe asume la dirección de la prestigiosa casa de marroquinería y Proveedor de La Real Casa fundada en 1846 por su antepasado Enrique Loewe Roessberg. Habia que construir un local que representara todo el esplendor y el glamour de la marca que en la majestuosa Gran Vía y como curiosidad en el primer edificio que se construyó en ella en 1915.

 

Diseñada por el arquitecto Francisco Ferrer Bartolomé la tienda abrió sus puertas en 1939, es actualmente el edificio más antiguo que conserva esta firma, sinónimo de calidad y tradición en todo el mundo.

 

Franquear su mítica entrada curva y apreciar la exquisitez de los materiales donde se mezclan maderas y piel color marfil, apreciar su escalera de espejos y sus lámparas de arañas de cristal te sumerge en la época dorada de las tiendas de lujo de la Gran Vía.

 

The fascinating story of a ladder

In 1934 Enrique Loewe Knappe assumes the address of the prestigious house of leatherwork and Provider of the Real House founded in 1846 by his ancestor Enrique Loewe Roessberg. It was necessary to construct a place that represented all the splendor and glamor of the mark that in the majestic Gran Via and like curiosity in the first building that was constructed in her in 1915.

 

Designed by the architect Francisco Ferrer Bartolomé, the store opened its doors in 1939, it is currently the oldest building that preserves this signature, synonymous with quality and tradition throughout the world.

Casa Loewe is housed in the historic Casa Lléo i Morera at Passeig de Gràcia 35 was designed by the Catalan modernist, Lluís Domènech i Montaner.

 

Architect Lluís Domènech i Montaner was commissioned by Francesca Morera i Ortiz to work on the Lleó i Morera House in 1902.

 

There was an old building, called Casa Rocamora, built in 1864 by master builder Joaquim Sitjas at the sit.

 

Lluís Domènech i Montaner designed a complete remodel of the existing house using a variety of materials. The project lasted until 1906.

This is an old music cabinet with Loewe Opta Radio, which I bought about 26 years ago in a junk shop.

Unfortunately, I have no idea what year the cabinet was made, but the radio still works!

 

Those citynames in the display always make me dream of traveling the world.

I tried to give the pic a look of a vintage b & w shot.
