Ok, not the best quality shot in the world, but I do like how the composition turned out, considering this was an uncomposed "point & pray" shot. And because this is not an angle most people will ever get to see. The former BNSF Mendota Local job is heading west through Bristol, IL past the "Bus Graveyard." I was just getting off duty and noticed how perfect the light was when I heard the horn blowing for the Cannonball Trail crossing. So I grabbed the camera, turned it on, and stuck it around the side of the building to see BNSF 1549 (H3) and 1706 (Cascade Green) going by on the local towards the Menards distribution center. I was suprised to have caught the 1706, which had been working other local jobs in the previous days. Most of those shots were way off horizon and were blurry. This going-away shot turned out to be the least off of the bunch, with some interesting composition to it. Pre-COVID, this local job originated out of Mendota, IL to the west, but now runs out of Eola Yard in Aurora to the east.

Amazing: 'Schiphol Amsterdam Airport' On Black

This photo was selected for Schmaps citymaps for Amsterdam Airport Schiphol!

One of my favourite airports, and the airline I work for, and in HDR :)

And this was a different storm than the one in the previous photo. I just thought it would be nice to post them together.

Connecticut Department of Transportation Budd SPV-2000 wearing the Amtrak phase III paint scheme is seen operating eastbound on former New Haven Railroad Springfield Line while its stopped at the Wallingford Station, ca 1982. These Budd SPV-2000 passenger vehicles were constructed to replace the old trusty Budd RDC's, but they failed to do so mechanically. They were not in service very long as self propelled vehicles, however; numerous ones were converted into coaches. They did however; get the nickname, "Seldom Propelled Vehicle." to read additional information about their history go to en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budd_SPV-2000. Standing near the SPV-2000 there appears to be a conductor. Twelve of these SPV-2000 vehicles service the Springfield Line for a few years during the 1980's.

JDL 45 is awaiting its turn in the scrap line at North's, Sherburn-in-Elmet. It is a Bristol LS6G with Eastern Coach Works bodywork, new in 1952 as Southern Vectis coach no. 304. In 1966 it was rebuilt by Strachans for one man operation on localservice work. This included replacing the original outward opening hinged door with a jackknife version. At the same time it was renumbered 854. It was withdrawn in 1970 and passed to North's where it survived for several years before being dismantled.

The low setting sun just catches the interior cab of Ivatt class 2 mixed-traffic 'Mogul' No.46521 heading the 2C38 16:15 Loughborough to Rothley local service near Quorn and Woodhouse on Sunday 27th January 2013.

The LMS 'class 2 Mogul' 2-6-0 tender steam locomotives were designed by H. G. Ivatt for light mixed traffic duties. Construction of the 128 strong class commenced in 1946, only 20 actually being built by the LMS at Crewe Works. The remainder were built by BR at Crewe (45), Darlington (38) and Swindon (25) between 1948 and 1953. The LMS-built examples were numbered 6400 to 6419 and renumbered 46400 to 46419 by BR, the remainder followed the sequence up to 46527. They was essentially a tender version of the Ivatt-designed LMS Class 2 2-6-2T being introduced at the same time but with greater range due to the higher coal and water capacity provided by the tender. The locomotives had two outside cylinders and were fitted with Walschaerts valve gear. Slightly larger cylinders were used on the Darlington and Swindon built locomotives (46465 onwards).

In service the Crewe-built locomotives were allocated to the London Midland Region, those built at Darlington to the London Midland, Eastern and North Eastern regions and the Swindon batch to the Western Region. After an initial draughting problem was rectified they were successful and became the basis for the BR Standard Class 2MT 2-6-0 (78xxx) design. 46521 spent all of her working life on the Western Region of BR, being allocated to Brecon, Oswestry, Machynlleth and Croes Newydd sheds. She was withdrawn from service at Croes Newydd in October 1966 and stored at Shrewsbury until March 1967, being consigned to Barry for scrap, but happily she survived into preservation. The pairing of the locomotive and Southern Region green Mk.1 coaches quite possibly never came about during her career in Wales, but she most certainly looks well at home with them here.

Back to Teddington in time to celebrate the 90th birthday of the unstoppable, indestructable, indomitable Paddy Ching – Vice-President of the Teddington Society and our resident historian.

Paddy, who's as active and busy as ever, has given many years of unique service to the local community, so it was entirely fitting that her many friends celebrated with her in style at a splendid tea party at the Park Hotel in Teddington. I was there, too, to raise a glass (and a camera lens) in her direction.

PeruRail Alco DL-535 (1962-3) locomotive 481 arrives on time at the lower town station of Aguas Calientes with the daily 'local' service [servicio social] provided for non-tourists. This single return service from Cusco (07:15) was provided for Peruvians and registered foreign residents at a fraction of the fare charged for visiting tourists, i.e. 15 Peruvian Sol (circa US$4.6) single from Cusco compared with US$38 on a Backpacker or US$50 on a Vistadome service.

A class AM4 electric unit (later class 304) waits to depart from Stafford station with a local service to Rugby in the mid - 1980s.

Two unusual purchases for the fleet of Hutchison, Overtown were this pair of Bedford YMQ Lex Maxeta service buses for the Local Rover service which negotiated some narrow streets.

ANK 317X was new to Dell (Rover Bus Service), Chesham with C811 JGB new to Hutchison.

After many years of people mis-spelling Hutchison with an extra "n" before the "s" I take it whoever applied the "Hutchinson's" vinyls took a roasting!

They were pictured in the yard at some time in 1986.

Gloucester RC&W built Class 122 'Bubble Car'.

Arriving on the East Coast Railway at Doncaster and meeting the connection to Sheffield.

There was a time when i despised their very name, shape, sound and existence. However the more one travels, drives and rides in these I have developed a sort of curious fetish towards them, and was even thinking of preserving one, but my insanity did not last long ;-).

They did indeed serve a purpose (To annoy all bus enthusiats), and during the boom of the de-reg era in the early to mid nineties, the "Mini Skipper" as they were know in Poole, Bournemouth and Salisbury, were operating 12 hours a day every 5 minutes between Bournemouth & Poole, on all route variations and paid for themselves time and time again.

The early examples failed to exist years ago as rot set in, typical new build crap! However the later squarer types still survive today after 16 years front line service, albeit you can count the remainign survivors on 2 hands.

I would be intersted to know eveyone else's views on these and other type of Minibuses.

Oposite the train station is a very busy bus station. Local buses seemed cheap and good unlike the evening bus service in Hertfordshire.

This is the Porterbrook reworked Pacer (2 car lightweight DMU) intended to showcase how a Pacer can be life expended past the deadline set for withdrawl.

Disability toilet, new seats and trim with better lighting and space for 2 bycycles. Porterbrook claim this type of refurbished Pacer can be operated for a fraction of the cost of a conventional DMU.

So far this is and was the only example.
