Scenes from the buffer zone around the Kanha Tiger Preserve in Madhya Pradesh India. Amazing to think that these folks live amongst tigers and leopards yet carry on as if it was nothing - I've travelled to some scary places around the world where wild critters were in charge but not sure how I would fare if it was part of my day to day life!

Sheep in 'réttir', not sure how to translate that... the round construction into which the sheep are herded in the autumn...

The other day I made a short walk to see how the sheep are doing. While many tiny lambs are enjoying their new life playing in the snow covered grass, these two were in a barn to wait for their babies to come which should happen pretty soon.

Zweifinger-Faultier

Die Zweifinger-Faultiere (Choloepus) sind eine Säugetiergattung aus der Unterordnung der Faultiere, wo sie die einzigen überlebenden Vertreter der Familie Megalonychidae darstellen. Die Bezeichnung Zweizehen-Faultiere, die manchmal für die Gruppe verwendet wird, ist insofern irreführend, als sie nur an den Vorderfüßen zwei, an den Hinterfüßen jedoch drei Zehen aufweisen. Die Gattung umfasst zwei rezente Arten, das Eigentliche Zweifingerfaultier (Choloepus didactylus) und das Hoffmann-Zweifingerfaultier (Choloepus hoffmanni). Beide Arten bewohnen den zentralen und nördlichen Teil Südamerikas, ersteres ist zudem auch in Teilen Mittelamerikas zu finden. Hauptsächlich kommen die Zweifinger-Faultiere in tropischen Regenwäldern des Flach- und Berglands vor. Sie ernähren sich meist von pflanzlicher, gelegentlich auch von tierischer Nahrung.
