Walking Street

This was taken indoors with a canon t2i and nikon 50mm e series lens. The lighting was difficult as it was a bar and it was shot through a screen. The board is Mackie, I think. Additional editing performed in Adobe Lightroom 5

Worked 34hrs this weekend, slept for 10hrs, ate 6 burritos, obtained a bottomless coffee cup, locked my keys in the car, broke my back window, ripped my jeans, showered once, and saw Zedd for the second time. Summerset2017. wow.

Winter 2015 Dance Recital

I am running sound for the dance recital today. Three shows (10:30am, 12:30pm, 2:30pm) all 1 hour each. It went pretty smooth; there was only one time I restarted a song at the end by accident. After the recital everyone went to The Rusty Bucket and had drinks & appetizers. Stephanie gave me a $25 Best Buy card and $25 Cheesecake Factory card! Doe gave everyone mason jars with small Coke cans inside and small Fireball bottles tied to the outside.

Julie wanted Donato's for dinner but I had Donato's for lunch at the recital so I wanted something different. However, as I was driving across East Powell Rd I saw there was an accident where Polaris Parkway starts and the turn to continue on East Powell Rd if needed. Cars are going past the accident slowly but consistently. I hear the sirens behind me of more Fire Trucks so I move to the right burm. They stop traffic two cars in front of me and one of the Firemen go and yell at the front car driver; I assume for not immediately stopping. They put a cone in front of me and in front of the lead car so nobody is moving. I waited probably 20 minutes until they finally moved the damaged vehicle(s) and allowed traffic to resume. I was so close to Donato's! I got Julie's pizza but picked up White Castle for me.

The main demo stage for Live Sound demo.

Overall a good eq... but can be difficult to work with on stage. The battery light didn't seem to work, the anti feedbacker (think it was a phase switch?) didn't do much either.. But the other functions worked well. I prefer 3 band or no band eq on the instrument itself..but maybe thats just me.

This is a neat device, especially when mixing what you have recorded w/ your band... It easily allows multiple people to make changes without handing over the computer controls. Also just gives recording on the computer a better feel being able to press control buttons rather than clicking on them with your mouse. Not essential..but a decent tool that turns out being very useful. I believe they're no longer in production..so it may take some searching to find one to purchase.

You go to a show and see a bunch of bands. You see a shit opener, or an incredible new favorite. You see another band you kind of like. Then you see the band you've wanted to see your whole life. They put on their show one after the other with little intermissions. The intermissions are kinda weird at shows yeah? When the house music comes on and lights are raised. You get a smoke, grab a new drink, take a piss, take your drug of choice, and then you wait, chat with your friends.

While you've been waiting for the next band the band that just rocked you is in a "mad" dash to get the fuck off of their stage. A bunch of serious-looking dudes in black are rushing around the stage morphing the mass of cables, cases, instruments, and black contraptions of all shapes and sizes from what was, into what will be your next entertainer.

From a serious-looking dude in black, and I can't speak for everyone in this photo, but this is one moment on gigs that gets my blood rushing.

My friend Fritch has been putting together shows at the Blue Danube Cafe (4th & Clement, Richmond District) and at the Castle (Geary & Polk, Tenderloin) for about 6 months now. The series has been pretty successful, and there's been a lot of really good music. I help out and take care of the sound engineering duties whenever there's a show at the Castle.
