Just arriving in Wycoller from the opposite end ! The bridge is 1000 year old !!

Clam Bridge is possibly more than 1000 years old and is listed as an Ancient Monument. It is a single slab laid across Wycoller Beck and once had a handrail. In 1989 and again in 1990 the bridge was swept away and cracked in two. It was repaired and replaced in 1991.

I-e-I-e-I-e-I-e-I, I don't know what to do

Now when the du-oo-u-oo-u-oo-u-oo-ub, yeah when the dub's gone, hey

I said I don't know what to do when

The dub stops, no I ... hey

I said I don't know what to do when

The dub stops, no I

Said the rhythm'll change me, love

Rearrange me

And rock me like a baby and help me

When I cry

Your eye on the sparrow, your mind is a temple

You cannot fight it, no matter hard you try, oh

Can I feel the vibe, can I feel the vibes tonight, yeah-eh, I

Can I feel the vibe, can I feel the

Vibes tonight, yeah-eh, I

The second item on my bucket list - a bucket of bolts. According to www.urbandictionary.com, a bucket of bolts is a machine that is old, run-down, or worn out. I think this old truck qualifies!

I got lucky with the horse in the background too. He decided to cross the entire field to get into the photo. Have a great weekend everyone!

Ralston's Cairn, Glencoe, Scotland

As I’m shortly to set off for a 2 week trip to Glencoe & Isle of Skye I thought I’d post an image I took in Glencoe a little over a year ago.

I’d seen photos of the Ralston Cairn on Flickr and saw a YouTube vlog on it a few years ago so I knew roughly where it was but had not actually tried to find it before. It’s one of those ‘honeypot’ images that divides opinions and given the main subject of the image is man-made even I wondered about shooting it. However, as I’d never shot it before I thought it was worth tracking down and seeing if there might be a nice sunset too. Alas there was nothing going on in the sky so I just fiddled around with various focus-bracketed compositions and chose this. No points for originality but it will do for me and it’s crossed off my list of Glencoe shots…..unless I’m in the area and it looks like a decent sky will be likely. Who knows, might happen this month when I’m up there although I want to seek out a few new places as well as some ‘tried-and-tested’ ones. If I’m absent until later in March you know why!

The Ralston Cairn is dedicated to Ralston Claud Muir, a train driver on the West Highland Line and avid hiker, especially within the Glencoe Glen.

Sadly Ralston fell ill on Christmas day 1999 and died 16 days later on 10 January 2000 from multiple organ failure caused by Leukaemia. He was only 32 years old.

The Glencoe Glen was his favourite place to hike and his friends and/family thought it fitting to erect an everlasting monument to his memory. His ashes are also interred at this spot. His friends and family still visit the monument, often with a wee dram of whisky to toast to his memory.

Mina - Breve amore (You Never Told Me)

Bristol Museum & Art Gallery, Queens Road, Clifton, Bristol, Avon.

As part of Bristol Museums, Galleries & Archives it is run by the city council with no entrance fee. It holds designated museum status, granted by the national government to protect outstanding museums. The designated collections include: geology, Eastern art, and Bristol's history, including English delftware. In January 2012 it became one of sixteen Arts Council England Major Partner Museums.

The museum includes sections on natural history as well as local, national and international archaeology. The art gallery contains works from all periods, including many by internationally famous artists, as well a collection of modern paintings of Bristol.

In the summer of 2009 the museum hosted an exhibition by Banksy, featuring more than 70 works of art, including animatronics and installations; it is his largest exhibition yet. It was developed in secrecy and with no advance publicity, but soon gained worldwide notoriety.

The building is of Edwardian Baroque architecture and has been designated by English Heritage as a grade II* listed building.

Looking through some old SD cards again and ran across this shot from 2017. This was back when I didnt have a DSLR yet and was shooting with a Nikon point and shoot, but the photo is still pretty clear and sharp. Standard cab SD70 #2556 leads an eastbound grain train on an overcast day through Wabun, Va on the Whitethorne district. I'm guessing this particular unit never got rebuilt because I can't find it on a list anywhere.

The North Euston Hotel is a hotel in Fleetwood, Lancashire, England. It was built 1840–41, to a design by Decimus Burton. During the second half of the 19th century, the building was used by the War Department as a School of Musketry; by the end of the century it had reverted to its original purpose. The hotel has been designated a Grade II listed building by English Heritage. (Wiki)

Series of three, three-story two-part commercial block buildings with Italianate detailing.

This is the seafront, otherwise known as The Cleave, at Kingsand on the Rame Peninsula in the far south-east of Cornwall. The Devonport Inn is a delightful Grade II-listed pub dating originally from around 1740 (though with subsequent alterations) that is popular with locals and visitors alike. The seafront overlooks Plymouth Sound, and quite often gets battered by winter gales. For that reason most of the buildings along here have window shutters and flood protectors on the doors.

This beautiful Grade I-listed Church in Gressingham in the north of Lancashire dates back to the 12th century. The remains from that era include a Norman doorway. The church was partly rebuilt in 1734 when the three-stage tower was constructed. It was then refurbished in the latter part of the 19th century by the renowned church architect, E G Paley.

At one time Lister Mill was one of the largest factories in the north of England. Now upmarket apartments and workspace. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lister_Mills

The area of North Cornwall around St Agnes is rich in tin-mining history and the remains are all around. The Wheal Coates tin mine complex sits on the cliff-top near Chapel Porth, though its most recognised engine house, Towanroath, is a little lower down the cliff just out of sight. That dates from 1872 and its shaft is around 600 feet deep, reaching well below sea level. It pumped water from the shaft.

Earliest records indicate a mine at the site since 1692. The present mine opened in 1802 and came into full production in 1815. It was closed in 1889 when the price of tin fell. Flooding and bringing ore to the surface were the main problems of the mine until steam-driven equipment was available. In 1906 new ownership hoped to work the mine for both tin and copper.

The surviving buildings, all Grade II-listed, date from the 1870s when deep underground mining began at the site. There are two Whim engine houses which were used to crush ore for processing. A calciner dating from 1910–1913 when the mine was reopened roasted the tin to remove impurities such as arsenic. At the height of its production, 140 people were employed at the site to mine a seam of tin just below sea level. However, this and a subsequent period of operation from 1911-1913 were not very successful. The mine was closed for good in 1914.

Wheal Coates is part of the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape World Heritage Site. The complex is preserved and maintained by the National Trust.
