The clock works in real time and updates from my system clock. The image of the Foo Fighters album cover is a plug in that shows which CD I'm listening to so it updates in real time as well.

The in-flight entertainment system on our 767 flight was apparently powered by linux. Unfortunately, it was also having problems and rebooted a couple of times, which is why we saw this in the first place. Cool that they chose Linux, uncool that it kept crashing.
