Like the Mandarin Duck and very similar looking the Wood Duck has also escaped into certain areas in the UK but far less well-established. A mostly silent duck and native to North America where they live in wooded swamps and will nest in holes in trees, these ducks are one of the species of duck that are equipped with strong claws that help to grip bark and perch on branches.
When you see how fragile and delicate life can be, all else fades into the background.

A shelter in the Autostadt under which vehicles from the fleet are usually parked. So a better carport..:-)

As you can see the Kingfisher's eye is protected by a membrane (knipvlies in Dutch). Despite the membrane the Kingfisher can stil see under water.

I want to say thank you to everyone involved in creating these wonderful places that we photographers love to capture. Without their talent and creativity this would not have been possible.
When you face stormy emotional weather in life, and your happy takes a detour into the disheartened, having a friend who is there, a friend who says, “I’ve got you” even without ever having to speak those words, but says it through their mere presence, then you have a priceless blessing.
My sweet guy, Romeo, here...he can quietly walk up behind me, much like my real life equine and canine loves always have, and with his sensitive, intuitive strength, he plants his hooves firmly in the grass beside me, and says, “I’ve got you, and I’m not going anywhere.”
A bit pensive I am today, my friends, but it will pass. Love to you all, and wishing you a beautiful new week. 💕
