Located at the gateway to the Lake District National Park, 5 miles south of Kendal in Cumbria, Levens Hall has grown from a stark, imposing Pele Tower built c1250-1300, into a warm and welcoming family home. We invite you to marvel at this beautiful privately-owned house and gardens, home to the world's oldest topiary gardens and centre of a thriving 9,500-acre agricultural estate which provides much of the produce for Levens Kitchen.

There are a number of factors as to why I like this picture so much, firstly is the limit to which the snow comes down the mountains, secondly the reflection of the white topped Pap of Glencoe and thirdly the contrast of snow and sunlight with the amazing colours that are generated as a result.

And a bit of split toning

Loch Leven Scotland from the Ballachuilish Bridge. This is a sea loch (Fjord) with strong tidal currents flowing through the narrow inlet which can be seen clearly from the bridge.

A nice beach on Loch Leven at a wee place called Findatie.

Superbly still morning on Loch Leven giving a great reflection of the Pap of Glencoe.

Whilst watching a program about the clans of Scotland the other day I thought I would have a look back at the shots I took up in Glencoe a few years a back and came across this, I now want to go back.

Anyway, this is a shot of Eilean Munde a small uninhabited island in Loch Leven, close to Ballachulish. It is the site of a chapel built by St. Fintan Mundus (also known as Saint Fintan Munnu), The church was burnt in 1495 and rebuilt in the 16th Century. The last service in the church was held in July 1653. The island is the site of a graveyard once used by the Stewarts of Ballachulish, the MacDonalds of Glencoe and the Camerons of Callart. The clans shared the island and the maintenance of the graveyard, even when there was conflict between them.[3] The last burial took place in 1972, of Mrs Christina MacDonald Sharpe. a native of Glencoe.

A drone image from Invercoe overlooking Glencoe Village and the Pap of Glencoe.

St.John,Scottish Episcopal church,Ballachulish with Loch Leven in the background.

Loch Leven (Scottish Gaelic: Loch Liobhann) is a sea loch on the west coast of Scotland. It is spelled Loch Lyon in Timothy Pont's map of the area and is pronounced Li' un. The local Gaelic pronunciation is Lee' oon Loch Leven extends 8 3⁄4 miles (14.1 km), varying in width between 220 yards (200 m) and just over 1 mile (1.6 km). It opens onto Camus a' Chois at North Ballachulish, part of Loch Linnhe at its western end. There are nine small islands, some rocky and covered with heather and some just smooth green grass, near the western end of the loch.

The village of Glencoe (Scottish Gaelic: A' Charnaich) lies on its southern shore. The burial place of the MacDonald clan of Glencoe lies on an island - Eilean Munde, St.Munda's or St Munn's or Saint Fintan Munnu's Island, opposite the village. The island burial place was also shared by the Camerons of Callart, on the north shore of the loch, the Stewarts of Ballachulish and Appin and other local families
