Nato nel 1822, era specializzato nella difesa del patrimonio agro-forestale italiano, nella tutela dell'ambiente e del paesaggio e nel controllo sulla sicurezza della filiera agroalimentare. Concorreva all'espletamento di servizi di ordine e sicurezza pubblica, nonché al controllo del territorio, con particolare riferimento alle aree rurali e montane.
Il personale ammontava il 1º gennaio 2017 a 7.563 unità, dislocato su tutto il territorio nazionale, ad eccezione delle regioni a statuto speciale e delle province autonome di Trento e Bolzano, nelle quali operano autonomi corpi forestali regionali.
Con un decreto legislativo del 2016, è stato sancito l'assorbimento del Corpo nell'Arma dei Carabinieri, forza armata con funzioni di polizia, cui sono devolute funzioni, risorse e personale. Sempre in base al citato atto normativo e successivi atti applicativi, specifiche aliquote di personale e risorse strumentali sono state devolute ad altre amministrazioni (Corpo nazionale vigili del fuoco, Polizia di Stato, Guardia di finanza, Ministero delle politiche agricole alimentari, forestali e del turismo) in funzione delle relative specializzazioni.
È cessato il 31 dicembre 2016 e dal 1º gennaio 2017 gran parte di competenze e personale sono stati trasferiti nel neocostituito Comando unità carabinieri per la tutela forestale, ambientale e agroalimentare. Il 16 aprile 2019 la Corte Costituzionale ha dichiarato legittima la soppressione del Corpo Forestale dello Stato.

Wayne Manor and Batcave
After seeing the treatment of both Wayne Manor and the Batcave in the second Lego Batman video game, I was inspired to build it in brick. The idea of it being shaped like the bat symbol really impressed me, especially with the challenge it presented with building it in brick; especially as the game version is simply polygons.
My scale was set by the windows, and I built out from there. After building the frame, the trick to stabilise the shape was very difficult, especially with so many hinges, but I managed to find the balance. The landscaping was kept to a minimum both for time reasons and also to not take any focus away from the manor itself.
The Batcave was a lot of fun to build and features a huge collection of LEDs to light it, including one that cycles through in the console. The suits wall was fun to build too.
I will admit, it is a little short, but perhaps one day I'll give it a little more height.
This was first displayed at Brickvention 2015 on a super heroes corner of my club's train layout and has been displayed about 15 times since both with the train layout and as it is displayed here.
One day, I'll get around to the interior of the manor...
