Now that Thanksgiving and Halloween is in the rear view mirror I fear that this farmer"s pumpkins will be unused leftovers.

After the job is done, there are sometimes leftover pipes to stack up. Probably sorted and designated for other jobs. Or, maybe just send them out for recycling.

It was quite busy around our hazelnut bushes during the autumn. Not only, that we took some of the nuts and did trim back the bushes quite a lot. No, even the squirrel and the woodpecker were almost daily guests. And still You find, when you are searching, nuts hidden on the ground. Enough, to originate a new generation.
Im Herbst war ziemlich viel los an unseren beiden Haslnusssträuchern. Nicht nur, dass wir uns ein paar der Nüsse geholt haben und die Sträucher massiv zurück geschnitten haben. Nein, auch Eichhörnchen und Specht waren ein fast täglicher Gast. Und trotzdem findet man, wenn man etwas sucht, immernoch Nüsse am Boden versteckt. Ausreichend um eine neue Generation zu begründen.

Meyer Primoplan 58mm f/1.9 (c. 1949) adapted from M42 to Canon FD and mounted on a Vivitar 2x macro focusing teleconverter. Not a good-looking or compact combination but it works quite nicely.

They don't bother to eat the ones that fall to the gorund
It's quite decorative though, so I don't complain
An osprey (Pandion haliaetus) flying with it's leftovers on Honeymoon Island State Park, Florida. The ospey fish by hovering motionless 30+ feet above the water. When they spot a fish they tuck their wings in and dive at high speed head first. Just before hitting the water they flare out their wings and lower their talons.
LEFTOVERS
Set out on a red rock hike yesterday with husband, dogs, and friend, but I dressed too warmly and despite rolling up sleeves and leggings, the uphill climb made me retreat to the shady canyon below where I played with the phone camera and remaining pools and leaves. I am never bored or feel left behind with camera in hand.

I had my sewing/quilting buddies over and used the leftovers to make an amazing egg white omelette the next morning.
