365 - The 2010 Edition * November 16, 2010

 

Still just piddling around with Jo Ann’s new camera.. Spent all night last night The diagram on the screen behind me is a page in the User’s Manual. It’s a description of all the buttons and icons that it displays for all the functions it performs. Took me a while to figure out that the little red icon blinking at me was the equivalent of the clock flashing 12:00 on your Dad’s VCR.. Set me – set me – set me….

 

As always, there’s a learning curve to get over before you can decide if things are really annoying or just unfamiliar. Jo Ann is a visual learner – she catches on quickly to things she is shown – reading it out of a manual is something not many people do well – and almost no one enjoys. I guess I’m a bit of a geek that way. I like reading and exploring new gadgetry at the same time. So, I’ll figure out the things she really needs to know, and then show her, and we’ll both know.

 

But for simple family photos, all you really need to know is where the “Auto” setting is. Everything after that is just gravy… Or is it icing on the cake? Hmmm…

We demonstrate a number sorting game, where the student interacts with the robot to blast virtual UFO's with the lowest value. Correct answers are celebrated with a wing flap, and each level-up with a dance. We use the Accessory Development Kit to interface with mobile devices while away from the computer.

Best Machine Learning Projects: This technologically driven world has seen machine learning emerge. It's a remarkable field that allows electronic devices and machines to become more intelligent. This field's primary goal is to make a basic machine more intelligent.

 

Working on projects is the best way for you to get an understanding of this technology. Other options include online course browsing through books that only help in understanding the basics of ML. However, it is possible to get a deeper understanding by working with real-world data. Kaggle also has data sets from some of these projects.

 

These datasets are useful for completing projects and learning new skills in the field. These projects are most applicable to you if your level is intermediate or an amateur and you're still learning more about Machine Learning. Kaggle also has many more complex projects for those who are ready to tackle more difficult tasks. These are the stages that machine learning is made up of

 

- A machine learning algorithm provides examples of input data as well as a list of possible tags to match that input.

- The input data is transformed into text vectors, which are numbers that indicate various data features.

- Algorithms are able to associate feature vectors, tags and samples on the basis of manually-tagged samples. This allows them to automatically make predictions while processing unseen data.
