The Diamondback Rattlesnakes would use the ropes on the platforms to climb up on top. It was warm enough in the building that the snakes were fairly active.

Is just as critical as learning to fly. This youngster doesn't have it quite nailed yet as it tended to kind of drop the last foot into the nest with a thud.

Walking around a flea market on a sunday afternoon, I discovered a ramp where a whole family was learning how to bike and skate.
Under the father's supervision and with proper protection, of course.
This 5DS R will take some getting used to , usually have to sharpen my images from the 5D MKii but this image is un sharpened with 61 focal points as one option it is a Beast.

This Eastern Bluebird fledgling is learning all about bird feeders. The top two in my yard are the mealworm feeders and the hotmeats (pepper treated sunflower meats).

Soooo I’m on a business call when I look up and see my bbg finally getting on her bike she cut up on Easter for. It took JaCari being home and outside with her to actually get on the bike. I love moments like this with my kiddos. Guess we going for ice cream and the zoo

A young juvenile Tri-colored Heron practices the proper moves and lines up the next target on Horsepen Bayou. Still in the juvenile plumage with the rust and gray colors making for a nice appearance in this state. He/she will eventually look a bit more like the adult that I posted recently.

Like many families right now, we're doing 'remote learning', and today one of Frost Juniors school tasks was to "Make a Star Wars movie set" out of LEGO.
This is his photo. His idea was to make a cool photo showing his two favourite figures battling above lava. We set it up on our kitchen table using only basic household items.
Along the way, we talked about concepts such as framing, and lighting. What to put in the shot, and what to leave out. Where the focus of the shot should be, and how to best achieve it. About how we could separate Kylo from the background using effective lighting, and how those lighting effects could be achieved. And just generally had fun playing together.

Even Lassie has found that book and wanted me to teach her something about photography!

This weeks blog post features images and stories about my beloved burrowing owls ... that I miss dearly. While we have burrowing owls as well in western Colorado, they're not full-time residents and are not as social as what I'm used to in Florida... from what I'm told. Check out the blog if you like and feel free to let me know what you think. :-)
This particular young one is not flying yet, but it certainly has learned that it has wings ... as it runs about with them outstretched and beginning to learn how to navigate with them. These owls have a keen curiosity about their life as they grow up. So much so, I believe that you can see it in their eyes! An endless source of entertainment they provide, I can't wait to fly back "home" to spend some time with them.

"Learning to Fly"
This last month my wife and I just bought a home. It has been a very exciting time for us but also very challenging. I have learned so many things that I never had to do before; buy paint for a whole house, use joint compound to fix walls, change light fixtures, etc. I am very surprised at home much I have done and with very little help.
I am more aware of my need for God to be my compass in life. He has provided for all my needs and been faithful even though I haven't been in most things. Trusting God is like birds leaving the nest.
I have been pushed out into the world.. its time to learn to fly.
