My daughter used to live in the backyard cottage of people who own this gorgeous German Shepherd, Luca. She is now living somewhere else, but we both still miss dear Luca. Such a magnificent and very sweet dog.

I still remember the details of that quiet way that leads to the summit and how it was changing according to the nature of the place, from farms on the slopes of the mountains until penetration among the clouds at an altitude of more than 2,000 meters above sea level where the scene acquired more beauty.. The clouds got more thickens and created the most beautiful paintings of nature while it was hugging the mountains

How to make the stars:
Equipment
1.Camera with a wide angel lens
2.Remote control to avoid the vibration (You can use the camera timer in case you do not have Remote control)
3.Solid tripod to avoid vibration
4.Motorized remote follow focus and zoom system
5.Programs: Photoshop and Starstax
6.And a lot of time and patience
The Shooting
1.Number of images: approximately 150
2.Shutter speed, Aperture and ISO: Part of the images with Manual Mode (30s | F/4.0 | 3200). The other part with Bulb Mode (45s | F/8.0-10 | 3200).
3.SingIe Shoots: I prefer to take a picture of the scene by the smallest Aperture possible to obtain high accuracy of the scene
4.Zoom-in/out: During the imaging process, I do zoom-in until the last possible focal length and then Zoom out to get the undulating motion of stars. Preferably to do this process toward the North Star to avoid the process of integrating more than a picture. But it’s also possible not toward the North Star. By the way, this process is not easy and it will be need a motorized remote follow focus and zoom system (Cost is a bit high).
The Editing
1.Merge the images with the Starstax by adding all images in the “inputs images” section and click above “Start progressing”. Or you can use the Photoshop for merging, add all images as layers by clicking on File>Scripts>Load Files into stacks .. then change the blending mode of all images to Lighten
2.For movement resembling the fall of comets: I use the Starstax and add all images and “Start progressing”. Then Preferences window and chose Blending mode “Gap Filling”.. check the Comet Mode and make it a little bit Short Trails.
3.After that I take the final stars images to the Photoshop to do some changes: Add Hue/saturation to give the color of the stars more Aesthetic. Add Levels to hide some Stars. The end is the brightest Star + blured brightest Star + white points.
I will soon create a video for each process from start to finish. And I will work all the experiments, both with the motorized remote follow focus and zoom system or without and search for the cheapest solution. I can’t appreciate exactly when I do the video, because I’m at the time very busy with most important things as photography. But please follow me on Facebook from here to watch the video when I published it.

The central doorway leads into the dark, atmospheric vestibule, where the roof is supported by 18 columns with wonderfully varied floral capitals in the form of palm leaves, lotus buds and papyrus fans; some also have bunches of grapes, a distinctive Roman touch.

Although only this column room remains of the original temple, the interior reliefs and walls are in good condition for a forgotten temple in the interior of Egypt. There are still improvements in progress through the restoration process.
This trail leads along the former German-German border and is called the green ribbon. Now in winter it is less green, but quite snowy. The trail the green belt leads from north to south across Germany.
AVR 4001 leads a short 9 car train down the ex-B&O on a sunny December day. Built in 1910, the former Experimental Mine of the U.S. Bureau of Mines makes for a nice photo prop along the route. The building is now part of a larger facility for the National Energy Technology Laboratory.
From Ruta 40 and then 76 a dirt road leads to the National Park "Talampaya". The park is in a basin between the Cerro Los Colorados to the west and the Sierra de Sañagasta to the east. The landscape is the result of erosion by water and wind in a desert climate, with large ranges in temperature - high heat by day and low temperature at night, with torrential rain in summer and strong wind in spring.
Features are: The dry bed of the Talampaya River, where dinosaurs lived millions of years ago; the "Talampaya gorge" and its rock formations with walls up to 143 metres high; the remains of indigenous peoples' settlements; regional fauna, including guanacos, hares, maras, foxes and condors.

DM&E SD40-2 6370 leads a trio of former SOO LINE EMDs: CP SD60 6234 and GP38-2s 4422 and 4437 on train K409-15 west of Lyons on the former New York Central mainline. The crew was ordered to leave the trailing units isolated/shut down, so this former Milwaukee Road Deuce struggled across the Water Level Route mainline all afternoon which allowed a chase from Little Falls to here, nearly 120 rail miles. Not bad for a day I started off working the Utica job in the morning and early afternoon.

The Hahnenmoss Pass (German: Hahnenmoospass) is a high mountain pass in Switzerland, connecting Lenk im Simmental to Adelboden in the Bernese Oberland. With an elevation of 1,950 metres above sea level, the Hahnenmoos Pass is the lowest pass between the upper Simmental (west) and the Engstligental (east). Although a road leads to the pass from Adelboden, the pass can not be traversed by car. In winter the pass is part of a ski area.

Back then, green SD60Ms were the main target whenever I headed out, and this one was a real treat because it was unexpected. I always enjoyed my excursions to the Staples Sub. It was a bit of a drive from my house, but totally worth it.

Cliffs Erie 4210 leads the last pull of the day through a rock cut just out of Taconite Harbor, MN, working up the steep grade towards Cramer Siding on the evening of August 20, 2008. At Cramer Siding, the 4210 would combine these 12 cars to the other two pulls they made away from Lake Superior on this day. They would eventually tie-down for the day up near the tunnel.
Was a great day 11 years ago today on Cliffs Erie with the F-units working in beautiful weather. Kind of bittersweet as we knew we were probably were seeing the last of the F-Units on the Erie Mining during this cleanup effort.
This camelback truss bridge crosses the North Fork of the Shoshone River and leads to the UXU Ranch. The 162 foot span, which is a variant of the Pratt truss design, was originally built in 1924 for use near Powell, Wyoming. The bridge itself is a Parker variant of the Pratt design in which the polygonal top chord is built with exactly five slopes. The UXU ranch started out as a sawmill in 1898 and was converted to a guest ranch in 1929. For years the only access to the ranch was a footbridge across the North Fork from the Yellowstone Highway (US 20/14/16). Then in 1968 the bridge was disassembled and moved from its original location to the UXU which made the ranch finally accessible by car. Located in the Shoshone National Forest west of Cody Wyoming, the ranch is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Union Pacific 8777 leads a Pixley, California - Tuscola, Illinois grain empty through scenic Echo Canyon, Utah the morning of May 6, 2023. On the right is a giant boulder of conglomerate rock, which rolled down the mountain back in 1948, crossing the Lincoln Highway, and coming to a stop just shy of the Union Pacific tracks. It was determined to be stable, and remains a landmark. I figure if the passage of Big Boy 4014 couldn't set it free, nothing will.

Here we are, looking down the path which I'll pretend leads us to the future. We are praying it's much better than it's been for a long time, as my husband, Trev, has a major operation to remove a cancerous growth in his bowel tomorrow. It is a tricky operation and he'll need lots of care but it's a new beginning !
So we're ignoring the dark clouds overhead. They went away and soon it was sunshine again !
Keep safe everyone, look after yourselves and each other.
My time on Flickr will be very limited, as you can imagine. Please forgive my frequent absenses, you will know the reason why now.
I hope you like my picture, edited in Topaz Studio and framed and signed in PicMonkey.

Former EL SDP-45 #6687 leads an interesting set of power for "Flare Friday" as she heads a westbound freight over the Vermilion River. Helping out are two ex-PC units, an SD-40 and a U-25B. Given the nice patch job, definitely the right leader in my book.
The Fichtelberg railway (German: Fichtelbergbahn) is a 750 mm (2 ft 5 1⁄2 in) narrow-gauge railway that leads from the
standard-gauge international line at Cranzahl to the ski resort of Oberwiesenthal in the Erzgebirge mountains in eastern Germany. It takes its name from the Fichtel Mountain near Oberwiesenthal.
After the railway from Chemnitz to Chomutov via Annaberg and Vejprty was opened in 1872 (consisting of Chemnitz–Flöha, Flöha–Annaberg, Annaberg–Vejprty and Vejprty–Chomutov sections), plans were made to also connect the former mining town of Oberwiesenthal to the Saxon Railway system. The requirements and qualifications to build a narrow gauge railway from Cranzahl were met by 1884, but it wasn't until April 6, 1896, that construction started. The railway opening took place on July 20, 1897.[1] By the end of that year, 67,756 passengers (and 57 dogs) had already traveled on the new railway.
Passenger count increased in the following years, and tourism played an increasing role in the passenger count. Freight traffic also increased significantly. Until 1906, freight had to be transloaded in Cranzahl; since then transporter wagons made the extra cargo handling unnecessary. The biggest cargo customer – even until the mid-1990s – was the quarry in Hammerunterwiesenthal, requiring around 30 freight cars daily.
After 1990 the railway lost its status as the most important carrier into Oberwiesenthal (which is the highest town in (Germany)), and in 1992 freight service was terminated. After 1994, the Deutsche Bahn became the new owner, and planned to either dismantle the railway, or sell it.[1]
For the 100-year anniversary, the communities along the track, together with the operators of the Pressnitz Valley Railway and the Lößnitzgrund Railway organized a festival week that drew 40,000 visitors. With different rolling stock of narrow gauge railways from all over Germany; a train schedule of extra and regularly scheduled trains meant that there was a train on the track almost every hour. Fun fairs along the track and historic trains ensured the success of the event.[2]
New thinking started after the success of the event, and the district of Annaberg prepared to acquire the railway. On June 1, 1998, the operator BVO Bahn GmbH, since 2007 Saxon Steam Railway Company took over operations from the Deutsche Bahn, and renamed the railway to the catchier Fichtelbergbahn. The new operator aligned operations with the tourism in the surrounding area, and within relative short time achieved country-wide recognition. Especially during the winter months the railway now has similar significance as in its heyday, as winter sports tourists in the towns of Neudorf and Cranzahl can reach the ski areas of Oberwiesenthal with ease and in style.
The railway starts at the standard gauge station Cranzahl at 653 m (2,142.4 ft)[3] of the Vejprty–Annaberg-Buchholz railway. The passenger trains start on the same platform as the standard gauge trains. The former freight yard and its loading ramp for the transporter flatcars is on the northern end of the station. The narrow gauge trains leave the station in a left turn and follow the right side of the Sehma valley through the village of Neudorf.
The first stop is Unterneudorf, followed by Neudorf. The following stop Vierenstrasse is a popular starting point for hiking into the Fichtelberg area. Leaving Vierenstrasse, the track follows a long incline (1:33 or 3.03%)[3] through the densely covered Fichtelberg forest. The next station Kretscham-Rothensehma is used to allow valley-bound trains to pass. The track continues to climb, reaching the watershed of the Pöhlbach river, arriving at the next stop of Niederschlag.
The tracks now lead downward into the Pöhlbach valley, crossing the Bundesstrasse 95, and run along the border with the Czech Republic uphill to the Hammerunterwiesenthal station. Leaving Hammerunterwiesenthal, the valley becomes so narrow that there is only room for the state road and the railroad tracks, steep meadows on the right hand side, and a steep forest to the left on the Czech side of the border.
After the next stop Unterwiesenthal, the track unwinds itself from the narrow valley, and the peaks of Fichtelberg on the right, and Klínovec on the left become visible. After crossing the federal route again, the railway leads over a 110 m (360.9 ft) long and 23 m (75.5 ft) high steel viaduct, and reaches the terminus of Oberwiesenthal at 893 m (2,930 ft).

A former L&N SD40-2 leads empty rack train M580 south into the sweeping curve just outside of downtown Colbert, GA along the Abbeville Subdivision. In a land of GEVO's, it sure was nice to get a pair of EMD's leading a road freight for a change.
A solo rebuilt SD70MAC leads slop freight M582-05 north into Cartersville, GA on a gorgeous summer evening. Work to build new warehouses is underway here, so getting this building-less shot was a necessity before nasty aluminum boxes fornicate the background.
The track leads through the sacred Tōpuni area of the Hooker Valley, which has special significance and values to Ngāi Tahu iwi, towards Aoraki/Mount Cook.
From the first of three swing bridges along the way, enjoy the views over the Mueller Lake and listen for the rumbling of avalanches from the distant Mount Sefton. Try to spot them before they crash into the Mueller Glacier below.
4210 leads a westbound Cliffs Erie train away from Cramer Tunnel on the afternoon of October 16, 2008. The clean up trains of 2008 were almost finished here as they cleared out the remaining ore and even some limestone from the Taconite Harbor dock. Twelve days later the 4210 and friends would arrive Hoyt Lakes for the last time with the last train.
The dreary, late fall weather seems fitting in retrospect for my last CE sighting. On this day, some stubborn leaves cling although their end is near. Same could be said for the A-B-B-B-A set of F9s that hung on for over 7 years even after the LTV plant closed. But all good things come to an end. This shot 10 years and one day ago would be the last time I would shoot the Cliffs Erie and the F units on home rails.
At least the trailing F9 and one of the B-units survive at the LSRM. The leader lives looks great in Indiana on the Vermillion Valley. The Cliffs Erie tracks remain quiet except the far west end that is sometimes used for car storage.
