A 3 x 1 CP eastbound heads over the Mississippi River after meeting one westbound just around the corner at Humboldt. Fortunately, I can remember this spot this time of year as it really works well, regardless of the humdrum consist. The proper SD70ACU leader was the rear DPU.
I've been going through some of my files and editing some of the stuff from last year that I hadn't gotten to. This was one of my favorite sunsets last year

It doesn't happen very often anymore, but just a few years ago you could usually count on 485 to give you a good lashup, with the right leader. No disappointment here with ICE 6216 leading the way past the Milwaukee Road era searchlights.
This was one of those cold February days, but the sun offered up some relief as this mixed fright blasts through Duplainville.

FEC GP40-2 431 leads train 121 south through Dania Beach, FL on their way south to Hialeah, FL.
The train must have ran into issues as 431 was set to lead. It isn't too common to see EMD leaders on road trains so this was a nice treat.
Providence & Worcester NH-1 and NR-2 pull west on Track 3 in Old Saybrook while swapping cars. Unfortunately things have changed since 2011, P&W no longer makes regular runs on the Northeast Corridor in daylight.

SSR’s P17 leads a single BGKF grain wagon and retired Comeng cars 301M-1001T-302M 303M-1002T-304M with T381 trailing to Bendigo at Clarkefield. The grain wagon was going for repairs, the Comeng sets are to be scrapped. The units were heavily vandalised whilst in storage at North Shore yard since August, with large amounts of graffiti and numerous smashed windows. One of the cars was even set on fire, which prompted security to be hired 24/7 to watch over the trains. 301M is the class leader of the Comeng sets. Built from 1981, 187 three car Comeng sets were built by Commonwealth Engineering. They are now progressively being retired, with the oldest ones going first and the last will be retired around 2026. With the Main Channel acting as more or less a runway, NYK Line's Aphrodite Leader has center frame on it's way through San Pedro's Waterfront. The ship has just been turned and burned on a quick tour of the West Coast of the United States. Arriving from Richmond, California earlier in the morning the ship is now sailing back to Japan to start rounding up another shipload of imports.
Off to the right filling in some of the frame is the Ever Future unloading at Everport "TICTF South". As well as part of a Cruise Ship at World Cruise and a very thin profile of the USS Iowa at it's home at Berth 87.

Buildings in strong sunshine, with a background of dark cloud: always one of my favourite types of lighting conditions for photography!
This is Clayton Street, in Newcastle upon Tyne's Grainger Town district, the historic heart of the city centre, incorporating classical streets built by Richard Grainger, a builder and developer, between 1824 and 1841. It is one of the finest townscapes in Europe. These buildings are predominantly four storeys, with vertical dormers, domes, turrets and spikes.
The area decayed quite badly between the 1960s and 1980s, with both the residential population and the number of commerical tenants collapsing thanks to suburbanisation. Around a quarter of the original scheme's buildings were demolished from this period. A programme of property development and environmental enhancement was started in 1993 with Newcastle City Council and the English Heritage to tackle most of the worst buildings at risk and stop the decline of the area. Between 1997 and 2003, city leaders, national government, and the heritage sector worked together to secure £174 million of investment into the area, £146 million from the private sector. This, at least for another generation, secured the future of Grainger Town.
The street is named for John Clayton, antiquarian and town clerk of Newcastle upon Tyne during the nineteenth century. He worked with the builder Richard Grainger and architect John Dobson to redevelop the centre of the city in a neoclassical style and also did much to preserve the Roman-era Hadrian's Wall.

Dakota Minnesota and Eastern GP38 3800 was leading a gaggle of lesser CP GE motors on 281 at B12 Interlocking on Good Friday. I would guess that the crew would have rather have had one of those GEs as leader, but it must have been an Easter miracle for the rail photographer.
The 3800 was built in 1969 for the Pennsylvania Reading Seashore Lines and went on to Conrail in 1976. It then went west to California after Conrail was done with it and it did time on the Eureka Western before coming to the midwest as DM&E 3800.
A veteran cowl leads Montreal-Chicago intermodal train CN 149 as it rounds a curve with CN 2401, GECX 7395 & CN 2203 for power.
