To end my series from Christmas day. My 95 year old father in law looking at a little picture book I gave him for a gift of numerous cherished memories dear to his heart................
With inversion. From the left side Beinn Ghlas, then far in the background Stob Bennein, Cruach Adrain and Ben More. Next Meal Garbh, Meal Nan Tarmachan, above them you can barely see Ben Oss and Ben Lui. On the right side you can see it closely Meall Corranich over him Meall Ghaordie. You can see far in the background Creag Mhor, Beinn Heasgarnich, Beinn Dorain. It barely rises above the clouds Beinn nan Oighreag, over him Beinn Mhanach, and on the far right Beinn Acaladair and Beinn A Chreachain.
"It states that, retrospectively, "short" intervals of time tend to be overestimated, and "long" intervals of time tend to be underestimated."

Today is the start of a new law in England. Cats have to be micro-chipped so they can be identified & their owners contacted if necessary. Obviously Bella is law-abiding!
Not everyone agrees with the new law. But I am happy that cats can be returned to their homes if found, potential owners will know that a cat doesn’t have an owner so it can be adopted & if the worst happens an owner can be notified. Yes, chips & registrations can be expensive - but charities & some vets don’t charge for this, especially when it’s done as part of the neutering & vaccination routine with a young cat. The chip takes only seconds to insert - years ago I held Charlie while his was replaced & he just gave one squeak! Bella already had her chip when I adopted her, so I only had to complete a form to give her new address & my contact details.
Seasonal colours - happy Caturday.
The super maxi Law Connect had won the previous two Sydney to Hobart line honours. This year however, there were problems with its sails, and it finished second behind Comanche with a time of 2 days 5 hours 50 minutes and 40 seconds.
A wee standing stone acts as a cairn on Deer Law in the Southern Uplands. Passed it on my way upto Black Law from the Megget Reservoir. I think this wee fellow looks better than the usual pile of stones.
The North Carolina Arboretum is an arboretum and botanical garden located within the Bent Creek Experimental Forest of the Pisgah National Forest at 100 Frederick Law Olmsted Way, southwest of Asheville, North Carolina near the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is open daily except for Christmas Day. There is no admission charge, but some parking fees do apply. Although the idea for the arboretum stretches back to landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted in 1898, who wished to create an arboretum at the nearby Biltmore Estate, today's arboretum was established by the General Assembly relatively recently, in 1986, as a facility of the University of North Carolina. In 1989 the site was officially designated the North Carolina Arboretum. The arboretum is still under active development. It includes many hiking and bicycling trails, a bonsai collection, a holly garden, and a stream garden. Its tree collection includes a fine set of Metasequoias planted in 1950, and now said to be the tallest in the south. In 2016, a certification from Bee Campus USA recognized the arboretum's efforts to teach about and support pollinators.

Very thankful for my father in law Ken who is 101 and 102 middle of December. I've been honored to know this man since I was 18 and what a man this guy is. But lately he's failing and his heart is wearing down and he's been falling and I don't know how much longer he can be by himself down in the woods. We've all got to make some hard decisions soon. God Bless him.
Like many Australian cities which experienced a gold rush in the 19th century, Bendigo has many magnificent and impressive buildings, including the law court complex.
In 1943, only one in a hundred crofts in the Highlands had electricity. But in just a few decades, affordable electricity would transform the way people lived. Hydro power made this possible.
Lawers Dam is part of SSE’s Breadalbane hydro-electric scheme. It holds back Lochan-na-Lairige reservoir – the main storage area for the Lawers section of the scheme. This reservoir collects water from 45 sq km. From here, it travels by pipeline to Finlarig power station on Loch Tay.
The Breadalbane scheme centres on Loch Lyon, Loch Ear and Loch Tay. It contains three sections with seven main power stations. The Lawers section began producing power in 1956, with the entire scheme in place by 1961.
The vertical distance between Finlarig power station’s turbines and its water source at Lawers Dam is 415m. This used to be the highest ‘head’ of any SSE hydro-electric scheme until the commissioning of the Glendoe Hydro station. Finlarig discharges water into Loch Tay.
Lawers dam co-exists with the surrounding Ben Lawers National Nature Reserve. Red deer, ptarmigan and black grouse can be seen as well as water vole – one of the UK’s most threatened animals. The area is also internationally important for its rare alpine plants.
A quiet and bitter stick season-esque Saturday morning in East Brookfield, MA is disturbed by CSX I022 on November 29, 2025. CSXT 3194, adorned for hono(u)ring the law enforcement leads the charge on the short but hot intermodal eastbound, narrowly dodging the early morning fall shadows. The crew has just knocked down CP 64 on the Boston Sub, (B&A) and hurtles towards the eastern terminus of Worcester.
