Feierabendstimmung in Lauda. Kaum zu glauben, dass dieser Anblick bald Geschichte sein wird, und damit meine ich nicht die Züge!
Procedente del monasterio de San Benito de Sahagún (León), siglo XII.
Cubierta de sarcófago de mármol blanco con veta grisácea, de forma ligeramente trapezoidal labrada a doble vertiente, en cuya moldura axial plana se colocó el epitafio. Se desarrolla también un coherente programa iconográfico de tipo salvÃfico donde la Mano Divina, que emerge del cielo -ideado por medio de un segmento de cÃrculo con series concéntricas de estrellas- bendice al difunto, como elevándose hacia el cielo. Varias figuras angélicas, Miguel, Gabriel y Rafael, de especial protagonismo escatológico como intercesores e incluso como portadores del alma en el viaje final, toman aquà figuración precisa, con los respectivos letreros identificadores. También está presente la idea de la liturgia funeraria en la cruz, el incensario y el libro, atributos que convienen a los clérigos en la celebración de las exequias que se transfieren en el sarcófago de Sahagún al plano sobrenatural. Se completa el programa con la representación de los Evangelistas, tres de ellos bajo la forma de hombres y San Juan sólo con su sÃmbolo, el águila, posible alusión a la resurrección corporal.
