This tree on the banks of River Werre is a good friend and a perfect indicator for the state of the seasons. Löhne, Ostwestfalen, Germany
A South Okanagan landmark. This barn on the Haynes Ranch was built in 1916 to replace the original one that burned down in 1914. The ranch was on about 21,000 acres of land between Osoyoos and Oliver, British Columbia.
The Monsal Trail is a cycling, horse riding and walking trail in the Derbyshire Peak District. It was constructed from a section of the former Manchester, Buxton, Matlock and Midland Junction Railway, which was built by the Midland Railway in 1863 to link Manchester with London and closed in 1968. The Monsal Trail is about 8.5 miles long and opened in 1981. It starts at the Topley Pike junction in Wye Dale, 3 miles east of Buxton, and runs to Coombs Viaduct, 1 mile south-east of Bakewell. It follows the valley of the River Wye. The trail passes through Blackwell Mill, Chee Dale, Millers Dale, Cressbrook, Monsal Dale, Great Longstone, Hassop and Bakewell. The trail has numerous landmarks including Headstone Viaduct, Cressbrook Mill, Litton Mill and Hassop railway station, and passes through six tunnels.
A hole left in the heart of White Rock
The beloved, 114 yr old landmark pier in White Rock, BC Canada was severely damaged by a windstorm that ripped through Metro Vancouver, BC Canada on December 20th, 2018
The White Rock Pier is a historic landmark dating back to the 1920's and one of White Rock's finest tourist attractions boasting over 1,540 feet of boardwalk.
In this scene, you will notice some of the remains of many destroyed sailboats.
During the storm the boats were ripped away from an attached dock, at the end of the pier, and were aggressively tossed around, beaten and smashed to pieces, by the high force winds and rough waves.
I appreciate your kind words of support and would like to thank-you all, for taking the time to view and acknowledge my photography

The Saarpolygon is a memorial to the coal mining in the Saar region, which finally ended in June 2012. The large accessible sculpture stands on the Duhamel slagheap in Ensdorf, which rises about 150 metres above the surrounding Saartal valley.
The walkable monument is about 30 metres high. The 35-metre-long transverse section is accessed from both sides by 132 steps at a height of 25 metres. The viewing platform weighs around 60 tons. The Saarpolygon is designed in such a way that it has a different shape from each direction: rectangular archway, triangle standing on the top or base, cross with horizontal line. In the ground plan it has the shape of a Z.
147 designs were submitted in the competition of ideas for the artistic implementation - the winner was the Berlin architect duo Katja Pfeiffer and Oliver Sachse.
Their design of a large walk-in sculpture, which "as a symbol of change in an abstract language of form traces a variety of mining motifs", is intended to form a gateway into the future in the eyes of the beholder. The formal language of the puristic steel grid construction is intended to express the inseparability of origin and future in the country and to show the classic connection of coal, steel and energy in Saarland.

A view across from the end of Tower Bridge to the Shard, City Hall, HMS Belfast and on the right the Walkie Talkie building, on the way home from work to London Bridge Station. The sunsets continue this year, although maybe I am looking for them more or just have better timing. Love the walkers in this and the reflections, London at its best.

This night photograph was taken from a spot along Esplanade last month. The photograph captured the colourful reflections of the landmarks in Marina Bay. These included (from left of photograph) high-rise buildings in Marina Bay Financial Centre, Central Business District and the historic Fullerton Hotel and Jubilee Bridge.
It was breezy in the Bay and the long exposure captured the attractive and colourful reflections in the Bay.
Best wishes for a great weekend!
For ninety years the Ambassador Bridge has been a landmark between Windsor, Ontario and Detroit Michigan. That is about to change. Construction will begin this summer for the new Gordie Howe International Bridge just downriver from this aging landmark. The new cable-stayed bridge is slated to be completed by 2024.

A rain wet Going to the Sun Highway in Glacier National Park runs through the forest along McDonald Creek. Completed in 1932, the spectacular, 50 mile long Going-to-the-Sun Road bisects the park east to west. The paved two-lane highway spans the width of Glacier National Park and crosses the Continental Divide at 6,646-foot-high Logan Pass. It passes large glacial lakes and cedar forests in the lower valleys; canyons and cliffs; culminating at the windswept alpine tundra atop the pass. Scenic viewpoints and pullouts line the road offering dramatic views and photo opportunities.
The road is nationally significant for its design and monumental engineering accomplishments. The original roadbed, bridges, tunnels, culverts, retaining walls, and guard walls were built in the “NPS Rustic” style. Individually, these structures are often significant examples of period engineering and design philosophy; collectively, they comprise a vital, integral component of the road’s unique character. Most of these structures were designed to harmonize with the roadway setting by using native materials and by blending with landforms as much as possible. The Going-To-The-Sun Road is a National Historic Landmark, is included in the National Register of Historic Places and is a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark.
Landmarks can be one of the things that really make a spot worth while, and they can be just about anything, even a grain elevator.

The tower of the University Library in Ghent is all lit up, and it's not even Christmas yet. This famous landmark of the Ghent skyline was built in the 1930's by Henry Van de Velde.

Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament are amongst London's most iconic landmarks. This long exposure photograph was taken in April 2015, with the captured traffic light trails over the Westminster Bridge. Big Ben and Houses of Parliament looked spectacular at that time, before these were boarded up for extensive renovations in 2017.
Best wishes for a great day.
