It was one of those complete, random chance encounters, I was walking Bobby and happened upon this lamp left in the street. When I got home I grabbed my camera kit and headed back out, whilst getting mobbed by multiple mosquitoes I managed to get an LE, the light within it is from my mobile with the torch on. I recall the former owner of said lamp opening his window for a cigarette and curiously wondering what the hell I was doing with his former living room furniture.
It's made me consider this new collection, "Life Signs" whereabouts I happen upon rubbish, appliances, ornaments and things abandoned, I want to try and create something from it.
I hope everyone is well and so as always, thank you! :)

Today the sun shone, following recent rainy days. Intense early morning light bursting into the room, casting shadows from the venetian blinds. The lines, diagonals and shapes and colour blocking seemed to present a photo opportunity in my eyes.

A lava lamp is a decorative lamp, invented in 1963 by British entrepreneur Edward Craven Walker, the founder of the lighting company Mathmos.
It consists of a bolus of a special coloured wax mixture inside a glass vessel, the remainder of which contains clear or translucent liquid. The vessel is placed on a base containing an incandescent light bulb whose heat causes temporary reductions in the wax's density and the liquid's surface tension.
As the warmed wax rises through the liquid, it cools, loses its buoyancy, and falls back to the bottom of the vessel in a cycle that is visually suggestive of pāhoehoe lava, hence the name. The lamps are designed in a variety of styles and colours.
Lava lamps are often associated with hippie culture and cannabis culture.
The early morning is cold, damp and dark with the only light coming from this lamp. Spider web can be seen clinging to parts of the lamp and there are still some remnants of autumn leaves which provided the reddish colour amongst the tree branches
Where I was living in 2006, this lovely lamp was in the nearby public gardens and I often photographed it at various times during the year. This photo was taken in mid-winter, early one foggy morning. . . . .Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6 APO DG Macro. All other capture details have been lost.
AMSTERDAM LIGHT FESTIVAL - Exactly The two gigantic lamps that appear between lampposts on the Golden Bend are a wonderful sight. Jeroen Henneman created 'Two Lamps' specifically for this beautiful part of the canal; it’s where the wealthiest people in Amsterdam once lived and where lawyers, bankers and insurance advisors now work.
