LaFarge's cement plant is a bustling place on a bleak November morning. Interlake's Herbert C Jackson unloads petroleum coke as the tug/barge combination G. L. Ostrander/Integrity loads cement.
Canada Lafarge Cement Plant in Richmond, reflected in Fraser River at dusk. Go figure… those guys must take pride in their company, which stands out at night, looking like a vibrant city's downtown or a bunch of casinos in Vegas.
Kudos to them!
I usually aim for one exposure, but once in a while a bracketed exposure is necessary, if the intent is to emphasize details in severely underexposed areas.
I liked the colours of the sky that night (late evening) and stopped by for a quick “after sunset” photo session.
In the heart of the Canadian Rockies, Lafarge’s Exshaw Cement Plant is abuzz with activity as heavily dusted EMD GP38-2 FURX 5510 works to switch cars for delivery to CPKC’s nearby mainline.
The harsh midday sun only accentuates the gritty atmosphere of this heavy industrial operation, set against an otherwise pastoral mountain landscape. It’s a contrast that never fails to strike me whenever I drive by. This time, though, after passing it up on several previous occasions, I finally decided to stop and take a photo.

This is the first time I tried the Rokinon 12mm F2 and stacked ND110 with ND106. It's a big challenge for my patience :)

515, the Truro road switcher sported two units for switching during the majority of last fall. In mid-October, the pair was a GP9RM and a GP38-2 running elephant style. Geoff and I followed the job for the morning of October 16th, and chased them from Truro out to the Canada Cement Spur which branches off the Bedford Sub at Mile 56.04. Engineer Trainee Jones has the train under control as the three man crew starts back into TU10 at LaFarge. The job for now is to spot several gons of clay and a couple cement hoppers, before heading back down the spur to spot Marwood Lumber, right next to the main.

EWS 66172 was making steady progress on the Up Main of the Midland Main Line when seen at Cossington in March 2006. It was hauling the 6B30 Mountsorrel to Northampton Lafarge Self-Discharge Train [SDT] that included a lengthy [circa 40] consist of loaded PHA aggregate hoppers.
