Interesting facts about my lab:
Name: Sunna
Location: Iceland(that might explain her light colored nose!) :)
Toys: She loves playing with those ropes you can get at the pet stores and also soft animals with no stuffing but with those squiking balls inside. She also loves playing with plastic bottles, tennis balls and just anything she finds around the house.
Favorite treat: She LOVES Pop corn ! She also loves the home-made treat we make for her out of liver and something(we found the recipe somewhere on the web).
Her favorite things to do is going out for a walk, she always gets so excited when she knows she's going out. She also loves it when we take her of the leash outside and she just runs and jumps around like she has endless energy but when we get home she just falls asleep and is tired the rest of the evening. Even though she's tired, she's always ready to go out.
Thing she dislikes: She doesn't like it when we pet other dogs, she gets really jealous and just comes to us and cuddles against us and wants us to pet her instead. She also doesn't like it when I go outside for a jog and leave her at home.
Interesting thing about Sunna: Every time when someone comes to our house she always needs to find a bone or a toy and have it in her mouth when she greets someone.

This is the stare of OHMYGODOHMYGODWALKIESYESYESYESLETSGO :) Little Ellie is pretty special to me... When I moved house, my 2 dogs Penny and Priscilla escaped at different times and never came back, despite a huge hunt. SIGH! Ellie has filled a huge gap in my life for a while, and the cheeky little scamp luuuurves her walks!!
Retriever do Labrador (ou carinhosamente, Labrador ou Lab), é uma das mais conhecidas raças de cão. Notabiliza-se por sua amabilidade, inteligência e obediência. Ótimo cão de companhia, mas atenção, pois este cão adora estar na presença de humanos e odeia estar sozinho. Não é, de todo, adequado para alguém que esteja fora de casa por longas horas durante o dia.
O nome "retriever" deve-se ao facto de o Labrador ter como principal função a busca de caça abatida. Existem mais raças na famÃlia dos "retrievers", como, o Golden Retriever, o Toller Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever), o Curlie Coated Retriever, o Chesapeake Bay Retriever ou o Flat Coated Retriever.

Foxy has had two litters and we have received several phone calls from parents of her pups. They have all commented on trainability and mellow disposition. She's a keeper!

I flew here from Goose Bay to visit a friend from school and his family. This was taken the night before we headed south to Zoar bay for a few days.
- Nain is the northernmost inhabited town on the north Labrador coast. I was here only one month (!) before the Voisey Bay nickel discovery, "one of the world's richest deposits of nickel ore. The rush to stake out claims was dramatic. By '96, Diamond Fields Resources Inc. estimated that the complete deposit contained 100 million tonnes of ore." So Northern Labrador changed forever and dramatically one month after this was taken.
- Nain is one of a number of Moravian missions, with churches built with wood brought from Europe in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. From the net: "These communities became centers for religious, social, and trade activities, but a sedentary resident population didn't develop. There were no alternatives to a subsistence economy based on hunting, fishing, and trapping [still the case]...Even today, villages are but stopping-off points in the yearly round of seasonal activities which cover huge areas of land and sea....In the face of highly commercial European operations over the centuries, the Moravians might have saved Inuit culture from extinction in Labrador. They arrived from Greenland already fluent in Inuktitut, developed an Inuit phonetic script, and opened trading posts. When a smallpox epidemic in the early 1800s wiped out most of the southern Inuit settlements, they moved them north to avoid further contact with the whites."

Mom & Dad are back!!!!!
But Mom is too tired to visit her friends... they arrived at lunch time and she had to work in the afternoon and will have to work tomorrow morning...
But she told me they had a wonderful time in Curitiba visiting their granddaughter!

Mas a mamãe está muito cansada para visitar os amigos.... eles chegaram na hora do almoço e ela teve que trabalhar de tarde e também terá que trabalhar amanhã de manhã...
Mas ela me disse que adoraram ficar alguns dias em Curitiba visitando a netinha!

Or perhaps an early labrador - very old photo. It is rare to get a studio photo of a dog all by itself, so this must have been a very special dog.
Stacey is a cream colored girl and has a fabulous disposition. She has had a litter and we have had rave reviews!
We have three dogs - and I cannot move without them in tow! This is Kira the black labrador. She will be four in January. In 2007 she was one of the dogs that was diagnosed with acute kidney failure after consuming a brand of dog food which was subsequently found to have been contaminated with melamine. The melamine was found in corn gluten (imported from China) used in the product.
Pets that had been diagnosed with melamine-associated renal disease were hospitalised and treated with intravenous fluid infusions and diuretics in an attempt to flush the offending material out of the kidney. Kira was hospitalised for 11 days.
Royal Canin SA was very supportive and paid for her medical treatment at the time and also provides us with vouchers for food indicated for her condition.
Kira is my shadow. She loves playing with a tennis ball and don't think you can escape this twice-daily activity! She throws the ball at you when it's playtime, if you're lucky it lands on your lap, but the aim is your face, just so that there be no misunderstanding of what she expects!
Update: Kira was put to sleep on 9 February 2012. She had just turned 6. Her kidneys (which were but a tenth of the normal size as a result of the melamine poisoning) failed to process the medication she had to get after she had contracted hookworm and she was literally poisoned. Despite valiant efforts by the vets which have treated her since the melamine poisoning her condition continued to deteriorate and we could not let her suffer any further. She was a very special dog and we miss her terribly....
